C3C PBEM : "Teuta" - Rise of Rome scenario (level : newbees)

GPS (turn 3)

I see that war has been declared between rome and carthage. Now only the AI remains at peace.

A Macedonian galley was lost in the sea south of Iconium(Persia), The extent of damage to the persian vessel is not known.

That is all.

I wouldn't say "war has been declared" between Rome & Carthage, rather that a state of war has ALWAYS existed between our two peoples since time immemorial (or, at least, since Turn 1 - unless I'm mistaken, we are "locked" in war by the scenario).

Question - do we post Battle Reports here, where everyone can see, or only to the people we attack? Just curious ...

Ah, GPS, btw.

For what it's worth, I sent the turn 2 battle report to TexanbyBirth by email.

I don't think posting it is required, but if something interesting/large happens, it's always fun to share it with the world.

EDIT: I didn't receive turn 3. Could you send it again?

I usually send a report to the individual who lost units so that they aren't MIA. I think its interesting to read some of these threads and try to follow the course of the games I'm not in. I think thats what got me interested in PBEM in the first place. I will definately post cities that I take/raze here. I might post a screenshot if something real interesting happens. (for example, if an armada lands on my shore!)

You can post reports against Rome here if you want. That goes for everyone.
Can I do the same?

Sure. It makes the game more intersting to follow. Just remember to also send an email to those you attack. As to what exactly we require, that's up to us, but I would suggest that, at a minimum, you report what enemy units you have killed.

Speaking of razing: are we going to have any razing limits, as some others have done?

It doesn't matter to me if we regulate city razing. Let me know. I don't think city trading should be allowed except back to original owners.
I also think that there should be no requirement to report the condition or death of your own units. If I retreat a unit that is redlined and try to hide from enemies I don't want to advertise that its out there somewhere. I suppose its only fair to report what you attacked with, since in reality the opposition would know what hit him.

I'm not opposed to city razing or trading, but I'll abide by whatever everyone else decides. I mean, historically speaking, the Romans DID raze my capital city to the ground, dug up the foundations, then sowed salt in the earth so that nothing would ever grow there again!

Game file sent to Persia, btw.

Played and sent. This may be my last turn for a while, as I'm going to be away from Wendesday midday to Sunday sometime.

So what are we agreeing to? No Razing, 1 razing, 2razings,... No razing of your own. Suppose I dont like where the AI has planted a city and I capture it but want to move it over one square? Of course it is perfectly legal to sell every improvement and / or starve your citizens if your city is at risk of being captured.
I say lets allow razing unlimited.

What I think is that when your city is about to be captured, you should'nt raze it.

That's fine with me. I think the problem has been that, when losing, some people have just razed their own cities as they went along just to slow down/hurt the enemy or keep them from getting cities they're sure to lose. For instance, some Carthage players have razed their cities on sicily, corsica, and sardinia just so the Romans can't have them.

Battle raged west of the Persian city of Iconium. The Persians held their own and Alexander was forced to retreat into the mountains. A Macedonian Horseman defeated spearman guarding the city but more spears prevented the fall of Iconium for now. Plans are underway for another assault. Barbarian swords entered Macedonia's northern border but were quickly dispatched, a search is underway for their camp and their gold.
GPS 335BC to Carthage.

Battles all along the front. Persia is outnumbered and outclassed, and some cities are sure to fall soon. Production has been painfully slow so far. Will it speed up fast enough to stem the tide, or will Macedon's momentum propel it into a lead that it can't relinquish? Stay tuned!

Sent to Qummik. Remember, I'll be unable to play until Sunday/Monday.

Roman savages ...

Are you guys having fun ?

I'm enjoying it, though my chances of winning are not looking good due perhaps, in part, to one or two strategic decisions that I made on the first turn. Of course, finally getting my GA will fix some of my problems.
