Capto Iugulum: 1920 - 1939

Ok, guys, I did my best with the Dniester Crossing 1905. I have to admit I totally suck at coloring. In a couple of years of practice I bet I'll be much better, but right now, that's the the top of my skill:
Spoiler :

The Dniester Crossing, midnight, August 18 1905. Far left: Russian Imperial unter-officer and privates of the 7th "Kievskaya" Rifle Division under machine-gun fire; top left: a raft boat under artillery fire; center: a unit of horse-driven light artillery of the 317th Flying Battery and a Cossack of the 15th "Kubanskaya" Cavalry brigade; far right: burning gasoline, first employed by the Hungarians to prevent the Russians from crossing.

This is amazing.

I concur, although I hate toremark that the fire looks to me like a wall of clay.

This painting bears the seal of the Emperor's approval

Extremely well done.

The picture is amazing, I hope you stay with the NES a good long time.

What is going on with the horses in that picture?

I mean the perspective is odd. I don't understand their positioning.

I wanted to show one of them stumbling and another - trying to jump out of the water. But yeah, the perspective is messed up here, that's true.

To be honest, so many things are messed up on that picture, I don't even know whether I should fix them or just draw another one. :)

The perspective's not bad at all if you look at it for more than about ten seconds, and the pictures are both amazing. Draw another one if you feel like it and don't worry about fiddling! :)

You shouldn't feel bad about criticizing artists, it's what makes them improve. :<

For sure it's a lot better than I could do but to say the perspective's "not bad at all" is just plain lying.

You're entitled to presume dishonesty when I disagree with you if you like, and you've imputed my good faith on a question of aesthetics before, if I remember correctly - but I'm not lying, and I personally don't find the perspective very objectionable. Sure, it's not perfect, and I'm sure most people have a better grasp of visual art than me, but I would rather you called my taste, or my rosy-tinted view of life, into question rather than my integrity.

Hey guys, no need to argue. I do know the perspective is off, and this knowledge doesn't make me feel bad. I'm open to both positive and negative critique on my works.

OOC: gah.. can't think of a good way to diplo-speak announce that the swiss are going to try and start building a world-class university this year. even though of a fun name for it, "academy city". but the muse just aint flowing, and everything I try and write sounds to corny or idiotic.

Name it FBU (Freaking Big University).

The art is fantastic and really helps bring this NES to life. I don't care whether it's perfect or not; it's fantastic. I'd be triple thrilled to see scenes from Scottite USA (and not necessarily scenes from my stories; there's plenty in the old USA to explore).
