Capto Iugulum: 1920 - 1939

And Britain cannot be trusted. Why should they get the reparations, when they will only use our own money to oppress other countries, and make up excuses to declare war on others?

And Brittany seeks out and funds terrorists. You will pay us the money because it is owed to us. There is no need for a neutral third party.

Since you insist, then we will back out of the negotiations, it is as fair as that. We requested a neutral third party, was that too hard to accept? We owe you nothing.

To: Brittany
From: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland

YOU will be the ones who suffer the most from backing out of negotiations; it is in YOUR interest that negotiations ensue. We are willing to either accept negotiations and arbitration and an investigation, or we will go take the money ourselves and make you pay the reparations and also, in addition to that, any damages that we suffer from invading. You are in no position to dictate terms in this matter, and if you care about the future of your nation and the welfare of your people and economy, then we advise that you remain in negotiations.

This is your final warning. Time is running out. One more quip from you and we will pursue the path from war, and make your country flip the bill.

You will never make us "flip the bill" oh one who has no humor. You will try, and try again, you would come here and burn the homes of a peaceful people you yourselves have made hostile. We told you what happened, and you would not listen, all you need to do is search your espionage department.

We don't need warnings, especially when they come from one who bullies smaller nations and then after that forces them to pay reparations for something they did not do. We will never pay your reparations. We will stand and fight against your tyranny. We hereby declare war on the corrupt power of the United Kingdom.

Vinland is saddened by this turn of events... we had come so close to salvaging this situation from war. :(

So, while we're counting down the hours to the Dragonborn trailer.... I mean, the update, here's a thought which requires some input to ya'll:

It was proposed to me that it could be allowed for the design of individual ships, particularly of the cruiser, battleship, or carrier classes. This is in line with the design of vessels in real life, and bodes some further consideration. In theory, this ruleset addition would combine construction and design costs in a manner that's cheaper than a generalized design to create (in terms of design and combined construction), but would have to be done with each individual vessel. Furthermore, to do this with each individual ship in your fleet would be far more expensive than a standardized design, BUT could allow for the creation of powerful individual ships to act as flagships for the fleet. I welcome any thoughts on this possible course of action.

Other than the odd Bismarck, is there much historical reason to have specialized ships like this? Perhaps in the wooden ship era, but I don't feel it necessary for micromanaging this, and I'd rather not do so either.

Well, the gameplay mechanic would be strictly for the purpose of the odd powerful ship, or as an alternative to purchasing a design from a rival power. The Second World War (and the First) is rife with historical examples of the process of an individual ship taking priority, and indeed, was the basis for a number of naval doctrines. The intent here would be to allow a flagship for a fleet, or as a cheaper and more immediate alternative to a design, especially if you don't intend on building more than one or two of a specific class of vessel. Of course, the whole process is entirely optional, just to allow for greater strategic possibilities for nations looking to beef up naval power.

So, like, a mechanism for designing individual specialised ship? That seems a little superfluous, but might make for a unique flagship or something.

Perhaps if you use the mechanism for designing ships, but make it so that you can't build the 'flagship' you design beyond the first. Though that might just make it not worth it or something.

Also maybe a ratio; you can only have one flagship per X ships or something. Otherwise people would abuse it to hell.

Well the point of the flagship would be that in terms of designing, it'd be cheaper than creating a design (since the design would also include the cost of construction). However, if you were intending on building a lot of ships, a design would overall be a cheaper choice.

The UK will allow the Vinnish to continue to investigate the matter, even allowing Vinnish ships with investigators (and nothing else) to pass through our blockade unharmed. We are still willing to subject the matter to arbitration.

We propose that the Vinnish investigators need not enter the warzone. Let them enter our country through Franco-Burgundy... Or are you going to blockade them as well, and bring neutrals into this?
