I don't really see diplomatic distancing from Britain coming anytime soon; Dominion status aside, Britain is (arguably) Guangxi's most powerful neighbor, and its only neighbor that it doesn't have potentially conflicting territorial claims with. Culturally however, and perhaps governmentally, I think that the higher-ups in Guangxi have come to realize that the nationalism sparked by the Fireworks Wars favors a shift away from Anglicization, which really never was popular in the first place. Guangxi its still trying to establish its own identity, which is something that has eluded me through my year of playing it; its Dominion status complicates any attempt to look like a legitimate Chinese government, while (in my completely unbiased opinion) it remains the best place for a Chinese person to live in the Capto universe, being democratic (unlike the Realm) and domestically ruled by Chinese (unlike Japanese China). Regardless, I think that Guangxi and the Qing monarchs will continue to see the British as their closest allies for the foreseeable future, though I do believe that there is growing resentment to the persisting, subservient title of Dominion.
Yeah, the end of Anglicanization does not mean that the Dominion is breaking away; the policy was cultural in nature, and was more damaging to the Empire politically. They also still maintain the right to domestic rule. Regarding Qing resenting Dominion status, all I have to say is every daimyo dreams of being shogun.
