Capto Iugulum: Building the 20th Century

I don't approve of the Central African map regarding our South Western African colony, unless we are compensated else-where.

Scandinavia was under the impression that an agreement had been reached between Spain and the Netherlands separate of other territorial claims. That said, this is a matter to be taken up with Spain.

If Brazil is not taken, I claim this tiny chunk of land. ((My people speak Portuguese right?)) As it is, Europeans control over 99% of the Caribbean. We propose that we gain the island of Trinidad. This would help our developing nation. One native superpower in the Americas is one too many and one too few for the global perspective. The people would also be able to understand us mostly due to a large contingent of Portuguese who settled there recently.

The Russian Empire feels that it's claim to Kamatchyca is the most legitimate. The Japanese have both Korea and Manchuria to govern and the British have not been active here for years and when they were, their presence was negligible

The Empire of Japan does not recognize Russia's claim to having the most legitimacy. Your empire has existed as long as Japan has been in control of Manchuria, and less than our control of the Korean Peninsula. If proximity of population or government to the territory determines claims, then by all rights, Japan should be control of the whole of Kamchatka. As it stands, we feel the current division is most equitable, and we hope that both The Russian Empire and The United Kingdom of Great Brittan agree.

Brittany's Proposal on the division of Africa:
Spoiler :

I would say that Brittany is the perfect choice to throw into the middle of everything. We are surrounded by four of the main powers of Europe -> Paris/Burgundy, Spain, England, and that German one((I'm new to this NES, give me a break ;))) If we act up, we are only two hours away. ;)
I split it up this way because else wise, we would be fighting forever trying to figure the borders out.
((No, I haven't talked with anyone - I am willing to edit it.))
On this map, no one in South or Central Africa loses entire colonies.

fixed my proposal for Africa.
Look at what happens when you go to a Robotics Competition. Two new promising NES's pop up on the day you leave and fill up nearly before you get back with your gold medal.

We support the Japanese Alaskan proposal.

Now that the issue is resolved, let's never refer to Alaska as "Alaska" again. It's a Russian name, and Russia had no involvement in this whatsoever. We're naming our portion of Alaska "Scottson" (should not be too surprised). Japan, Spain, and the Scandinavians are free to do the same.

The same is probably true for Kamatchyca, but take care of that when you get the borders resolved.

Just sayin', in case anyone forgets.

Why does Brittany randomly gain Nigeria and Tanzania......

more ic:

Brittany has no claims on Africa what so ever, and most borders have already been decided..

Poland would like some land in western Africa, which we had planned on colonizing as soon as the Italian war was over.

All right, well it appears that the area marked as Southern Africa is resolved, as is Hawaii, and Alaska/Scottson. The front page is updated in this respect, but there's still a few more regions left to go.

Also, welcome back aboard LizardKing, and a hearty welcome to Gem Hound.

Brittany's African proposal makes no sense, either politically or geographically, and more importantly, Brittany has no interests on the African continent. Scandinavia regards the question of central Africa settled save for Dutch Kabende.

Don't worry, we've been calling it "New Britain" for awhile now. :D

You know, I'll need a minute to think. All that's coming to mind is Japanistan, and I'm pretty sure that's culturally offensive and shows my lack of imagination.

Name: "Alaska" came from an Aleut word for "great land," though some believe the Aleut word meant "mainland," referred to it by those residing on the Alaska Peninsula. Scientist and surveyor William Healey Dall wrote in 1870: "This name, now applied to the whole of our new territory, is a corruption, very far removed from the original word . . . called by the natives Al-ak-shak or Al-ay-ek-sa. From Alayeksa the name became Alaksa, Alashka, Aliaska, and finally Alaska. We have, then Alaska for the territory, Aliaska for the peninsula."

I think we will go with Alayeksa... or Aisuyochi

Seeing as our arbitrations so far have been so successful, we thought we might as well have a go at the rest of the world, to try and provide compromise solutions for Dutch Kabende, Western Africa, Kamchatka, and the Pacific. We have tried to reconcile everybody's claims in the most reasonable fashion we could. What does everyone think about this proposal?

a) We are the middleman -> literally. We are between 4 superpowers.

b) Another piece of the reasoning behind taking that chunk of land in Western Africa is simply this; why should Paris/Burgundy have claim while no other French countries do? It would also turn into a neutral port without treaties needed. The territory would basically be an open "trading market" for Western Africa.

Because if you unilaterally take over a portion of our territory, then that amounts to a declaration of war against us. We have an alliance with you, for one thing, not to mention with Normandy and Poitou, and unless you want us to send an enormous army your way, please do not appropriate our colonies.

As the Dutch have said, you have no right to claim anything in Africa at all, and we have already decided on most African boundaries.

Russia will not agree to any arrangment in the Western Pacific that does not grant us a viable, year round port. We have not marched across 2 continents to be denied access to the sea by British and Japanese hegemony!
