Considering that Naples funded the Sicilians as they rebelled against Spanish authority, we do say that we have a very good foundation upon which to state what is "Spanish interests". What you did was indeed a twisting of words. Both that and your apparent unwillingness to see what is clear, is why we are issuing this explanation.

We accept Sicily's independence. However, this was with the proviso that they did not engage in any deal that would harm Spanish interests in Spain. Joining with other nation that has previously acted against Spain is one clear violation of Spanish interests. Not to mention that, unless Naples were to accept the same terms upon which Sicily gained its independence, it would be another violation of the peace treaty between Sicily and Spain. We also wish to point out that Sicily knew and accepted that violations of the treaty meant immediate surrender of suzerainty to Spain.
