Capto Iugulum

Papal Letter on the Italian War

-

People of Italy and the world, my beloved faithful. The situation in the war has not necessarily developed to our advantage and as such certain sacrifices in our temporal interests must be made in order to guarantee into the future the sovereignty of the Church (made manifest in the Papal States) we hold so dear from secular powers.

As such we sign the Treaty of Florence to ensure the rights of the Church in Italy, and our own indepenece from hostile powers, and to ensure the slow attrition of suffering wrought against our people in conquest and occupation never comes to pass.

I implore the faithful to endure the unendurable, and stand firm in joyful hope into the future. For this temporal sacrifice may perhaps lead to spiritual blessing.

May the peace of God be with you

Pope Leo XIV

to Sardinia:
The Pope have declared The Republic as the rightful rulers of the Italian peninsula and the Italian people. You would be wise to accept this as well.

We have made no statement regarding the territorial claims of the Italian Republic.

To spain
we.. are not worried about Arabia attacking us in the least at this point. their armies are decimated while ours are still quite intact. It will be at least a decade until they pose any real military threat to us. Our only worry at this point are some of their more.. Radical elements that seem to be gaining firmer holds upon their government.
as such, we wish to wait a bit and observe the reaction of the other allied governments, before entering such a treaty. we will provide a more concrete reply to your offer by the years end.

Very well, but remember that Spain's diplomatic weight hangs by your side regardless.

@spryllino: The amount Brandenburg gained was always intended for the proper distribution of territory. The mistake was only on Denmark's end.

Now you truly stand alone. We occupy 85-90% of your nation, we have shattered all your forces in the field and, if you keep fighting with your manpower reserves as low as they are, we will have completely annihilated an entire generation of Polish men in four years. We await your unconditional surrender

We hope you both see that times have indeed changed. The Italian Republic is the future of Italy, and attempts at preventing it's rule, will come out futile. We recommend you stop your naval invasions immediately.

We congratulate you on your victories, and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with you. When this mess is all done and over, we will be happy to cede you parts of Venetia, up to Trieste over the period of 3-5 years.

The Republic of Argentina wishes with all earnestness to sign the Peace of Madrid immediately, but can not until an article is added ceding the South Atlantic Islands to us. How a proviso for this action, which is also in the spirit of noninterference in American affairs, was overlooked is beyond us.

King Louis of Occitania Signs this Treaty of Madrid.

We expect a suitably representative share of the reparations from the perfidious Spanish.

OOC: :3. This actually surprised me. In my past experience NESers always go for the kill whenever they smell blood...

I guess I am not in a good position to ask for Aquitaine. :/

Knew I was forgetting something. Lucky should have mentioned it, he sure was eager Britain's and Brazil's gains to go through. Blame him :p

Addemdum to The Peace of Madrid
Axxii) Spain will cede the South Atlantic islands to Argentina.

I don't think this should cause too many problems to anyone who has signed before. :p

That is for you to decide with your allies, not for Spain.

Of course. Of course.

EDIT: 5 Pages worth of War Declaration is now replaced by 5 Pages Worth of Peace Signatures. :p

We congratulate the Cuban Party of the Republic, a brother of the American Party of the Republic, for winning the Cuban elections recently. We too hope for closer relations between our nations. We propose that Cuba and the United States of America sign a mutual defense pact, and that the United States assist the newly-formed Cuban military with doctrine, technology, and weapon designs. We hope that you accept as this will greatly strengthen relations between our nations.
