To: The World
From: The Republic of The Netherlands
Our country has suffered much from The Great War, thousands of young Dutchmen have died, and we have lost swathes of land. We do not feel that war is quite worth the costs that it bestows, for this reason we hereby declare our neutrality. We ask that any nation receiving this message will guarantee and protect our rights as a neutral nation, as the world has done to our southern neighbor, Flanders.
At this time, we also withdraw our nation from The Triple Alliance, although we are withdrawing from this organization we hope we can still have close, and friendly relations with both Denmark and The Franco-Burgundian Confederation. We are also withdrawing from The Dutch-Scandinavian Defensive alliance, we too hope for close and friendly relations with The Empire of Scandinavia.
Signed,
Jan Van Leeuwen, Stadtholder of The Republic of The Netherlands
