You could try putting the bowl on a tray that might help contain things a bit.

All I can suggest is less food served at any one time. But if the cat is set in their way, retraining is difficult. We use a tray, but one with no sides but it does have a tendency to keep the bowl in the same place

Actually, maybe the reason she scatters the food is because the bowl squishes her whiskers. Maybe I'll try a shallower bowl too.

So, it has passed two weeks since we bought the microchip pet feeder.
We can consider as a good experience as Mousse has lost weight and Jazz has gained it.
Now we have realized that Mousse has an anxiety problem as she eats her daily ration, which is the ration recomended by our vet, in less than two hours. At least she does not eat Jazz's food.

Does anybody have any ideas how to keep the cat from scattering food on the floor while eating? I tried changing her bowl to one with higher sides but she either tips it over or drags the food out. It's not fun to step on cat food.

Another possibility is a bowl that curves inwards as it goes up according to another forum I read.

This would not work with my cats, they take the food from the bowl, take it to an area separate, but near, from the bowl, eat it and go back to the bowl for more food

I think I figured out the scattering-food thing. The bowl gets moved around when the cats eat out of it, and then it gets pushed up into a corner. When that happens, my cat starts pulling food out of the bowl and scattering it so she can eat it without bumping her head.

I moved the bowl to a slightly different location.

It is rather fuzzy and all? But he was a cutie and i loved him very much.
He was very well behaved. (And a little scared by nature), not that fierce with other cats. More of a lover and not a fighter.

I told my mother why I moved the bowl. She decided to move it back because it was "in the way," and then yelled at the cat for scattering food again.

My dog does this too. And if you step on the kibble with shoes on, it explodes and pits my crappy faux-wood floors.

He likes to stash kibble around the house (in the couch, in the bed, etc) and also just drop pieces randomly on the floors.

I don't have any solutions for you. Is wet food an option for you?
