Cats and Kittens

My cats had a standoff earlier.

Handsome fella!

Are you close enough to the US border that he might feasibly be an American emigré?

Or can that already be ruled out, because Canadian vets have access to US pet-databases as well?

The biggest problem was the ID returned was 13 digits, when they're normally 10 or 15. It also started with a 900 code which is used by like 70+ manufacturers.

It was unlikely he came from the US (50km, but an 8km swim or crossing busy highway bridges) unless he moved with the owners. We ran the code in American databases but couldn't find anything either.

Luckily, he was adopted by a woman who has an entire room set up for him, and she's willing to spend whatever time he needs to be rehabilitated. It was a yay! ending for him, about as best he could hope for :)

One of my SIL's full time cats, Blizzard, tho she normally is called 'Boo'

She's an anxious cat, but she seeks me out when I'm staying there.

The last couple of weeks, I keep hearing the nails-on-chalkboard sound of cats fighting somewhere out my window at night. I'm wondering what's going on in the neighbourhood...

Probably 2 males going at it or a female is involved and it's not two cats fighting.

I believe two female cats are, at times, fully willing to fight each other under the right circumstances.

They will but male cats usually go out of their way to do it.

Ours is a big mooch but each night he goes out to prowl.

There are no scratching posts on my island of Bohol.
I thought maybe a DIY. But there's no hemp rope on Bohol. :wallbash:
Maybe canvas? No, my kittens don't like canvas. :nope::nope:
They do like my sofa and armchairs. :nya::mwaha:
:dubious: But for some inexplicable reason, their scratching doesn't seem to be damaging the fabric. :w00t::whew:

Do you have cardboard? There are plenty of DIY videos for that.

Nail a 14" long, 8" diameter "log" to a 12" square of plywood and stand it up in a convenient place. They will find it.

I have so much cardboard, it's coming out my ears (which is very painful).

Okay, so on a 12"-square base, nail an upright 14"-high log which is 8" in diameter. --I think extending one side of the base out an additional 18" is more better because then both vertical and horizontal cats could use it. :yup:
Both these proposed solutions are very doable. Thanks. :hatsoff:

You can also wrap the log (of any kind of wood) in carpet. A rougher surface is usually more attractive to a cat than a smooth one though. We have often used big 12-14" wide 24" tall logs stood on end for our cats too. We usually put them on the patio or porch. No base is needed since they are heavy and stable.

@Narz

Samy looks very adorable, in the first picture she's even seems like smiling. She seems like a mix Russian Blue imho.
