Change ur dang avatars

I remember you, Catharsis.

I don't remember what I remember about you, but I remember you.

He's hilarious and comes up with some of the funniest posts I've ever seen here.

edit: example

In the old days of CFC, most of us changed our avatars with some regularity. Multiple times a year. I believe this had an affect on lurkers from the main civ game subforums: every time they lurk over to OT it looked sufficiently new and dynamic that they could jump into the mix. But as most of us have mostly kept our avatars consistent, the lurkers see the same people doing a fair bit of rehashing. Looks uninviting. The more you post in OT the more you should switch every once in a while.

I think the logic here is flawed. This post has my avatar on it. If someone drifts in and sees it, then looks around maybe they will say "okay, that guy blathers endlessly." But if I changed it to something else the change applies retroactively to all my posts, so the person just wandering will see things exactly the same; a bunch of posts by one guy. The only people it appears "fresh" to are people who would be in a position to say "hey you changed your avatar;" that is, other regulars.

I used to change my avatar frequently, but I like this one. And now that I have this spiffy new job, it's important to be consistent so that I'm easily spotted.

Besides, I have nice eyes if I do say so myself.

I've been so inactive for so long now that probably no-one really remembers me, but maybe some people do remember my avatar. And if I take it off, I disappear completely.

It represents me, more than anything I ever said or did here.
I remember that you occasionally sent me cat pictures via Visitors' Messages, when the forum was still vBulletin. Sadly, the migration from vBulletin to XenForo resulted in them being deleted - not by my doing or wish, as they were a nice pick-me-up especially on days that hadn't gone so well.

I had made a bet on the election and lost. Didn't change my avatar to Obama for like 6 months, as agreed upon (because I was not really active), so it was looking like I wouldn't honor the debt. Finally changed it, and left it for 6 years now, so I guess the debt is paid.

Too lazy to change it (sizing a picture to the right size). Was thinking of Mr bull from peppa pig, who's solution to everything is "we'll dig up the road!"

It's really not worth the effort. Across multiple sites anyway, and there's no reason to treat one any differently than the others.

But how will people know I am really into space?

Did you guys see that ESA launched the BepiColombo probe to Mercury yesterday?

I've had my avatar since the day I registered an account here and wouldn't want to change it, even if the fate of the forums relied on it.

It does that for you these days.

@Farm Boy
I keep thinking your new avatar is Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs to which I thought, if he's going the serial killer route, why not just use a rapey ass polar bear? ;-)

I hope you can stop ignoring me long enough to remember when we got along well enough to share inside jokes.

Farm Boy's avatar is from an episode of Firefly. I don't remember exactly why Malcolm Reynolds is impersonating a pioneer woman, but it had something to do with catching bad guys who probably wanted him dead.

IIRC: It was a trick to lure out bandits. Mal took the part of the pioneer lady so Zoe, stashed in the back of the wagon, would have her gun free.

Ah, okay. It's been years since I last watched the series, so I didn't remember that episode.

Nathan Fillion looks so adorable in that disguise.

Almost as adorable as when he wore considerably less. :mischief:

Ch-ch-ch-chaaanges!! But yeah I'm not doing that. I am however contractually obligated to change it for Christmas season and April 1st.

I'll change temporarily in honor of my Hallowe'en costume for this year.
