Chef leaves South Park

Well to be fair, Matt and the other fella (arrogant hypocrites that they are) have never actually said another religion is a complete scam have they?

Not directly, AFAIK. But it's been like that between the lines many, many times.

Scientology is such a blatent scam that saying it is a scam is just stating well known fact.

Stating the Abrahamic religions are scams would require you going back a couple of thousands of years and showing the prophets to be lying scum who talked about how to make money by starting a religoin before doing so. :)

And we can't forget the Mormon episode. They call their prophet and their whole set of beliefs dumb about two hundred times!

Mocking religion is fine so long as it doesn't become offensive, like ohh I don't know putting images of Mohammed with....

Best show for a sort of less than gentle ribbing of religion was familly guys banned episode about Jews.

Absolutely hilarious, but very near the knuckle, not as offensive as Southpark but Jews are kind of sensitive I guess, or maybe the media was trying to be PC.

I can't even say what it said because some people might find it ofensive.

I watch Southpark and I think it tries to offend just about everyone, that's pretty much what it does and where it's humour comes from, mocking religion is just another string to it's bow. Isaac Hayes is was a bit player anyway, the show will go on.

But they cancelled it out be saying that only Mormons (and later Kenny) go to heaven

Isaac Hayes is a tool, like the rest of Scientologists. I'm basing my opinion of Scientologists on the only ones I know of: John Travolta, Tom Cruise, etc. who are all tools.

Just FYI, but it seems that episode is airing tonight at 9pm Central time on Comedy Central.

I walked out of the South Park movie within 10 minutes of its starting and don't watch the show, but I do think I'll catch this episode just to see what the big deal is.

Sorry to hear that. I'm not usually a fan of the offensive humor genre, but I found the movie hilarious.

And a show I saw on VH1 said the movie was brilliant, so it must be true!

You cannot call it a religon unless you call Jedism a religon. Yes I don't know what the term for believe in the force is so sue me.

Well you really only hear about celebrities but there does seem to be a disproportionate amount of celebrities that are scientologists.

do they have their own church?

I dont have a problem with people making fun of Mormons, per say. I thought that in that episode, where it cuts to all the guys in bike helemts was pretty funny.

And I didnt think all of the other mormon episode was that bad. I think anybody who's known a Mormon family would laugh at the first half of the episode (the whole family home evining bit...where the dad in the minivan yells "MY FACE IS PAINTED!", just cut me to pieces)

it was the rest of it, when the Stone brothers basically made stuff up, so they could call Mormons dumb. I think the Stones are pretty funny guys, and if they wanted to make fun of Mormons, they could have done better sticking to the facts, instead of lying to make a point. Its the lying to prove a point (i.e, the Stone bros think Mormons are dumb...which we already knew, after they made Orgasmo) that kinda pissed me off

Out of curiousity, which parts of the story were incorrect? I've always liked Mormons. I appreciate any effort put forth on my behalf, even though I don't believe in it.

Cu, i'd rather not turn this particular thread into a defense about Mormonism, since i'm sure whatever i say will be disputed and fought over. I'll PM you

I'd like a foreward of the PM, if you don't mind. I found the Mormon episode to be hilarious, and would like to know what's wrong with it.

Well, I'm not sure where the screw-up was, but it clearly was not about Scientology. tv.com and my directv guide did say it was supposed to be about someone being depressed and some religious folks making him a leader, but the show that actually aired was about some piece of poop that destroyed a film festival.

Does the church of scientology can even be refered as a religion?
Scientology is just a cult

VRWC-- yeah, don't know why they changed it, but the episode that aired was good, too. Note they parodied Brokeback Mountain months (if not years) in advance!
