Civ V Civilizations Roster

Well, guys, you know, with the fact that there's a limited amount of slots available, some region(s) in the world will not be represented. :(

And even with all the expansions some regions are neglected still, so, yeah.

Remember that Anatolia is partially represented by Greeks (and bare in mind, many scholars believe that the Greeks actually come from Anatolia rather than Europe).

The Ottomans are at least as important as France. I'd regard them as the Anatolian civ if there could be only one. Byzantines I'd never put in the game for the reasons said (just Greek Romans ... and indeed Justinian their leader was actually a Latin Roman), but I can tolerate their presence. The next Anatolia-focused one would be the Hittites, then the Armenians ... but let's not go to far, Anatolia is roughly the size of Oregon, and we got stacks of other Mediterranean civs.

If only they would put the Aztecs in an expansion, everything would be so much better...

You can count on China and Mao as a lock, though unconfirmed, they have him quoted in the trailer so I'd bet on it for sure.

Spain is one of the most influential civilizations of all time. I don't think you can leave them out. The vikings/scandinavians were also quite influential during their time. So, again, leaving them out completely is undesirable. Although if you were going by which civ was more prolific, Spain wins, hands down.

This will be it! Or not.. we'll see :P

01 USA - George Washington
02 Germany - Otto von Bismarck
03 France - Louis XIV
04 England - Elizabeth I
05 Russia - Peter the Great
06 Holy Roman Empire - Charles V
07 Rome - Augustus Ceasa
08 Greece - Alexander the Great
09 China - Mao
10 Japan - Tokugawa Ieyasu
11 Mongolia - Genghis Kahn
12 India - Asoka
13 Aztec - Montezuma
14 Egypt - Ramesses II?
15 Persia - Cyrus the Great
16 Arabia - Abu Bakr?
17 Zulu - Shaka Zulu
18 Ottoman - Mehmed II

I find it a good guess anyhow :king:

HRE? IN VANILLA? I'd rather have the Vikings  I'd replace the HRE*coughFrankscough* with the Inca Empire personally. Otherwise, I think your list hit the nail on the head. Although I'd personally love to see the Aztecs, Zulu, and Japanese for a later expansion and instead have the Maya, Ethiopians, and Mali.

Hey hey ... how about the German Confederation, the Germanic tribes, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Democratic Republic of Germany, Prussia, Austria, Saxony, Swabia, Franconia, Frisia, Bavaria, Lotharingia ... we could add the North German Confederation and the Confederation of the Rhine too. :D

All we'd need then were two Barbarian tribes, the Slavs and the Walha!

Is that 18?
I think we have our civilizations ;)

Don't forget Hanover. The Hanoverian King did rule over the largest Empire in the world for a while :)

Civ4 featured a quote from Hitler, so that doesn't really tell us anything. I'd probably bet on it too, just going by their track record, but an in-game quote tells us nothing.

I only looked at this thread today, so obviously I haven't read it all, and don't know if this is addressed or not, but I think not having the jewish civilization is stupid, since one of the most influential [top 3 for certain] persons in history was a jew, namely Jesus of Nazareth.

By the way, even though I'm brazilian I'm not christian, and I'm not a jew either. It's just an undeniable fact.

And I also think that any old civilization that was better at something then we are today should be in. Like the Mayans, wich had a calendar that is actually more accurate then the one we use today. By the way, this actually points out that astronomy is placed way too late in the tech tree, very much an eurocentric thing.

If that is true, I hope Mali and Mongolia are switched as full civs and city-states. Mali is best known for the Timbuktu thriving markets, so Timbuktu would make a great city-state, Mongolia is famous for the largest continuous land empire ever, and second largest empire ever. Mongolia MUST be a full civ.
