Civ VII Weekly Reveal Guessing Thread

The game launches with 30 civilizations. 3 of those are Han, Ming and Qing.

What you are describing is your own head canon, not what civ VII is presenting to you.
Most civilizations in the game are conflated with polities..but you don’t play As those polities you play With them. The “civilization” you play As is the combination of the leader and the 3 polities (and all the Traditions and Attributes you accumulate throughout history)

No it isn't, the civilization in Civ VII terms is explicitly the thing you pick each era. In the Devs words, the combination of 3 civs you pick is a "stack" of civilizations.

This is why I say it's got worse with civ VII. You are describing civs as they were in old games, and how they remain in your head, but not as they are presented to us in 7

I've just gone to the civ 7 website, and to the game guide where it says the following:

"Sid Meier's Civilization VII has three distinct Ages, each with their own exclusive set of historic civilizations to choose from as you evolve your empire. Discover more about these civs and their unique attributes."

So I think the concept you are describing of a leader and civs in Civ VII language is an empire.

Now I don't agree with that at all, and I think they've got empire and civilization confused, but that's why I say it's worse in Civ VII than ever before in the series. Ironically, civilization no longer understands what a civilization is

Because THAT’S HOW IT WORKED. Even those writers didn’t and could never have hoped to touch political power. So making Machiavelli and Confucius and Ibn Batuta leaders makes no fudging sense. It should have been Qin Shi Huang, Saladin, and Lorenzo Di Medici or something.
No civilization in history has ever consisted solely of a state under the control of a political leader. Not one. The politicians are one facet of the country ; political power is but one facet of power and influence. No amount of capital letters can ever change that.

In terms of how they were in all previous games civ=polity
Your civ had 1 government at a time
Parts of your civ were never at war with other parts (your cities might become Other civs/independents) etc.

The only thing that Civ7 has changed is the names…and the civs being parts of what you play with instead of what you play as. This makes them a bit more like polities…but it allows you to play As a “civilization” made up of multiple (civilization/polities)

America: Carrot and the Stick, Diplomatic, Militaristic.

Also lines up with the Shawnee could turn into the Pipe or the Tomahawk. Same concept. Thats why native American leaders are almost always depicted with the pipe and the tomahawk. They were saying you can have peace or war. The pipe is the act of diplomacy, not necessarily peace.

As a B5 fan, the Zócalo just made this my favorite civ. :D

Given that our forecast is currently just a single civ reveal, less than we've had before, and Sar_Firaxis has been saying that the Modern stream reveal is coming "soon," I'll predict that this week will be giving us Mexico and the Modern stream reveal.
Got it!

That wording could be interpreted as Franklin and surprise leader who ALSO leads America. This can only mean one person... Lili'uokalani! No margin for error!

TBF anyone you want can lead America. Himiko can lead America. Hatshepsut can lead America. :p

That would be the case, but I said "no margin for error," which means it has to be true.

Well, I would assume this points towards Franklin being the FL on Thursday, America being the revealed Civ on next Tuesday and the mystery leader being an added FL during the livestream (a la Isabella)

Yeah, this is what I think it may happen, also being a reason why this week we may get no first looks (instead two next week).

There's no FL this week. And the OP in the livestream thread says that Franklin's FL is on the 17th during the Livestream.

The mystery leader is merely being revealed, not given a First Look.
