Civ VII Weekly Reveal Guessing Thread

Alright, it's Hawai'i! Makes a Polynesian leader feel on the cards, though it looks like we won't be getting them today. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a week with Songhai, Buganda, and Amina... if they plan on revealing them as a group, it would explain why she's been absent so long. Then again, my thoughts should be taken with a grain of salt because this is the first prediction for weekly news I've gotten right.

Without justification I'm taking the Emile Bell appearance as a hint towards my Korean leader guess for this week! Maybe even a non-political leader like Yi Sun-sin for that naval focus of the era and also matching Hawai'i as the civ reveal this week (and because otherwise we'd have Sejong 3x in a row).

Hawai'i makes Himiko's appearance more likely (both of her Medieval Civs have been revealed now). We could get a Hawaiian leader as well, if there is one.

I THINK however that we're getting Amina next, with the Songhai guide right after, rounding out our eleven choices for the Exploration Era.

Yeah agree with you there on suspected justification. Even if it is like attributing the Spanish colonisation of the Americas to Mexico because Mexico was there afterwards, the name recognition is probably what seals it.
Certainly the European colonisation of the Americas began with Spain, Portugal, England, France, etc. but a big percentage of the land was still in Native hands after Independence, so the USA, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Argentina, etc. basically kept on colonising the remaining areas were the Europeans didn't settle before independence.

So, in a big part, Western post-colonial nations in the Americas did continue colonising, conquering and settling in Native American lands, though.

Hear me out: Eleanor Roosevelt. I would actually be really excited about this -- and they could throw out that unpopular Franklin model we've all complained about.

This. Post 1867, Canada alone colonized more landmass in the Americas than Britain, France and Spain had combined. On a population basis, America, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Columbia were even more prolific at colonizing indigenous peoples.

So, considering Moana 2 is releasing tomorrow, I'm actually going to go with Maui as leader.
He was already included in Civ 6 in as one of the Heroes alongside Himiko. He was a well-known folk hero and legendary chieftain to not just Hawaii, but all Polynesia.

Let me say I'd rather Lili'uokalani but I could see Firaxis doing this above as well.

Honestly they could totally do this and make it work.

Fair, so I suppose it's in fact worse that Hawaii is an exploration civ than if Mexico or America were exploration civs then, given Hawaii wasnt still colonising in the same way Mexico and America were

Random thought:

We have 19 civs left to cover (Songhai + 10 modern + 8 DLC) yet only 10 Tuesdays left before release

Does it mean in the next week we're gonna get one civ, but onwards it shall be two civs per week?
19-1=18
10-1=9
18/9=2
It seems very neat math

Unless it shall be more random, with us going slowly with one civ/week and then boom sudden onslaught of DLC civa before release - but it'd be awkward from marketing point of view to only reveal DLC civs (and the main reason to preorder) at the very last moment before release and in bulk instead of hyping them

So maybe instead we shall power through the remaining 11 base game civs in six weeks, and then spend the last four weeks getting two DLC civs, two DLC wonders and one DLC leader per week.

I don't think we'll have any besides Shawnee, they aren't release day content. You can hype them later to boost their sales, but right now they'll be wanting to focus on hyping what will be there on release day.

Let's be honest, anyone going to buy the deluxe or founders addition before the game releases is going to do that regardless of which civs are in it. It's not a priority to share them before release I don't think

Would also be extremely frustrating to see them show designed and implemented civs pre release that are held back from day 1 to be sold to us separately later.

This. I fear half of the playerbase would riot upon seeing the well designed, masterfully crafted civs sitting just behind a paywall (and the other half would sit happily on their paid DLC). :crazyeye:

The first DLC releases six weeks after the game's wide release. Plenty of time to show off whoever it is, the only DLC content we'll see before release are the other two DLC personas.
Let's hope they reveal her with a much more developed character model, the one we've seen so far looks kind of odd compared to the leaders revealed thus far.
The model we saw was probably the (early) Switch version, she should look much nicer in her First Look.

Is Songhai the last remaining nation to be revelaed in Exploration? The fact we still haven't seen Amina surprises me.
Yep, last of the litter. Maybe we will get Amina sometime this week or Tuesday along with the Songhai.
