Civ3 1.29f Bugs Report Thread

(only if you could move posts. :))
MPPs would work. No bugs there. ;)

This is certainly intentional and definitely NOT A BUG! See you in 3 days. ;)

Oh - well I never have gone beyond a standard sized map. I like my settings uniform with my games so it just bugs me.

after instalation of 1.29f ( and a no cd patch for 1.29f)
i can't start a new game !!! i can play with old games ok with some senario but not earth senario !!!!
idon't understand why !!!

I would suugest uninstalling civ3, uninstall all patches, go to your "RUN" command, type in REGEDIT. Use the find command, do a search for Infogrames Interactive, you might also try civ3 search. Remove all entries, reinstall the game, apply only the 1.29f patch. This will resolve your problems for sure. :)

Could be, with so many pages, that this question has been answered somewhere else on this thread. I am trying to do a civ scenario and I want there to be four civs only to choose from, however when I go to scenario properties there are no civs listed in the box.

Also, every time I start it tells me it can read the file but then starts anyway?

ARE WE EVER GOING TO GET A SCENARIO EDITOR THAT WORKS for people who don't know all that technical "stuff"?

Moderator Action: Please do not post anything besides bug reports to this thread. If you are having a problem you should either ask in the civ3 tech forum or the creation forum for this problem.

This is a last warning to all posters, any more OT posting in this thread will earn you a 3 day vacation. -- Gonzo

Hey, for those of you who can't figure out what's up with the Read-Only Civilopedia.txt file:
All you have to do is right-click the file (this is for a windows platform) and select properties. Then de-select the Read-Only option. This lets you write to the file however you want to.

I suggest you check the creation thread, you are not in the right place for inexperienced mod making help. I left the message for that person because they are frustrated and obviously did not read all of these messages. I find no problem at all helping someone out, but when they are kind of rude and inconsiderate I end up avoiding them. Your problem is NOT a bug.
You (we) will be told by the moderator that this thread is for bug reporting only not a question & answer thread.

There is one for that though. :) Now I am trying to be nice as possible, there are many threads to help you out with your confusion on how to create a scenario. There are many talented people in the creation section who would gladly (most likely) tell you exactly what to do. If not there are also help files posted by some of mod makers. Good luck.

So, I am sitting there playing. Been at it for about 3 hours. And all of a sudden the game just closes.
No messages-- nothing.
Just blink-- blink and I am at my desktop.

I am running XP and can find nothing on Windows website documenting this issue.

I started Civ back up and it ran fine.

Any clues??

Never mind I managed to fix the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the patch. Not sure if you were angry at me, Desert Fox, but just in case I will save my complaints about this editor for a different forum...

Wombat:

My game shuts down for no reason at all every other day. This is better than the last patch which would crash when I hit F3. I also run XP. Save frequently. No insider has ever admitted that this occurs despite frequent complaints.

I really tried not to offend you, I am not mad at all. I was trying to be nice and let you know this was the wrong place for that. Moderator is getting on everyone's case for it. Moderator Action: YES! FEEL THE WRATH!!!!
Please read the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=422889:) If you email me I can help you with your problem making the scenario. If I can't Elucidus will. Okay? :D

EDIT: Sorry guys, I just had to :D

NOTE: The warning still stands and you are still not allowed to imitate moderator tags as has been confused in the past. Excuse my outburst :D

Im not completely shure about this and it hasent been fully idenified but, when I edited the rules in Civ3mod.bic it froze and every time I tried to play it froze between 300 B.C and 150 A.D. It doesnt crash and no error messages come up it just well stops reading the disk (and my comp ainst slow it goes super fast until you get to that point were its not responding, and it isnt a unit problem I havent downloaded any units). I cant play civ 3 and tried everything so maybe this is a bug who knows just thought id let ya know.

Exactly what did you edit in the bic file? There are a number of things that, if edited, will cause such problems.

Well I edited the laboror and scientist bonuses and I edited the great library wonder. And exactly what can you edit in the editor without screwin up the game?

ON TOPIC: Bug report

On the diplomacy screen, before v1.29f, when there were more cities than space there was a little down arrow off to the right (or left) that I could scroll down. Now it's gone. That's something that should be fixed! Even pulling up all the other screens - sometimes they still go over.

Correction: they moved the arrows to the spaces below the bargining table box. Sorry. Want to delete this, but it would delete the two below.

About a month ago Chieftess posted this, but I couldn't find any follow-up to it.

Missing Entry in "text\PediaIcons.txt" LOVED_RACE_ROMANS

This was with the same bug test mod I just made. The only thing that was changed, was ultra high culture, and the 3 plants. :) (and large population) ... then the game crashed.

Then today Danners made me aware of the bug. Looks like there's a bug in the pediaicons.txt. The faulty entry looks like this:

# Small loved Icons
#LOVED_RACE_ROMANS (Cultural Victory Winner)
art\leaderheads\CE_CULTB.pcx

it should have looked like this:

# Small loved Icons (Cultural Victory Winner)
#LOVED_RACE_ROMANS
art\leaderheads\CE_CULTB.pcx

Is it normal that when you irrigate grassland under Depotism you don't gain an extra food for the irrigate? Or is this a bug? By the way this happened for the patch. I'm not sure if it was like that before the patch.
