What's wrong with Dido and Wu Zetian though? Especially Wu has such an interesting background story, I love her. I loved her design in Civ V even though it looked a little clowny.
Her UA, UU and UB were all perfect, a very nice, balanced, thematic composition in my opinion. Playing as China feels very "whole", from the colour-scheme to the little yet noticeable bonuses.
I think China was one of the most balanced and well-designed Civs in Civ V. I don't really care how historically relevant a leader is, after all they're just characters for a really advanced board game.
We should be happy they're not going back to the traditional silver racing car - cannon - boot lineup![]()

Wu was not a respected leader in China. Yes, her rise to power was interesting, but like Cersei Lannister, she was terribad at ruling, and just good at holding onto power (through murder borne of jealousy, intrigue, and scandalous sex). Good riddance to her. Qin Shi Huang Di, while arguably even more cruel than Wu, did accomplish rather amazing things (unified language, currency, monuments, etc).
I am fond of Dido though. I think her leader screen was the best in Gods and Kings, from the music to the moon-theme (suitable given her association with a moon deity). There are also surprisingly pieces of evidence as to Dido's actual historical existence, which is cool. Female founder and ruler of one of the most powerful ancient states is a cool story, bro.
