Civfanatics problems

Same deal, just now. I use firefox, btw.

edit: Does it maybe have to do with privacy settings? I have "tell sites I do not want to be tracked" and "never remember history". Maybe some advertising script somewhere between google and vBulletin doesn't like that.

Worth testing.

I guess the good news is that even though I can't replicate this, we are reasonably confident that there is no more malware.

I was wondering the same thing. Still seeing the same behaviour, BTW.

Nope.
I have:
- DNT enabled
- nothing gets saved besides some cookies
- cache set to 0kb
- everything gets deleted upon restart
and I don't get that problem.

But then again, I have by default NoScript on, but CFC is allowed.

Still getting the error message when clicking on an email link (subscribed thread).

have been getting the error message for a few weeks.. today I took an earlier post suggestion and typed in www.civfanatics.com into the address bar and the site loaded up for me.. but I had to use my iphone to access the site first to see this.

I used to just go into google and type civfanatics and go about that way

Successfully opened 3 threads from email links.
:goodjob:
Was still having the problem last night.

edit: :xmassign::xmastree::xmas::snowcool:

Since yesterday, all my CFC email notifications have been sent directly to my Spam folder (not because I want them there!). Has something changed recently? This is extremely annoying.

I'm using Gmail. My browser is Firefox.

Yahoo is on again off again about sending my CFC e-mail notices to the spam folder. I suspect that since the notice e-mail repeat the same subject lines , like Reported Post, etc, originating at the same location, automatic programs at the incoming e-mail servers often tag them as spam.

Yahoo has actually been doing that to me for years, but tbh, I thought nothing of it. :dunno:

Not strictly related, but does vBulletin allow for creating a single 'forum digest' email that could say something like 'you received 2 PMs today and had ten of your posts quoted, click here for more details', allowing for people to cut the number of emails they get per day?

You can set forum subscriptions to daily or weekly digests, instant notification, or none at all.

Since I'm in and out quite often, I have mine set to instant notification. It's been REALLY annoying to constantly see CFC stuff in my spam folder and have to keep marking it "not spam".

First off I am not saying here that the forum could not be setup better to help with this (it is very possible it could) - however at least with gmail this is not all there is to it, it has started throwing absolutely legit correspondence into spam recently just for being similar to spam, which includes a host of mailing lists for me as well as some people sending me pdf attachments that previously went through just fine, so it may also be an evolving spam filter on the mail provider's side that has started to act up without any actual problems on the forum server's side.

Oddly enough, ever since CFC stuff started getting routed into the spam folder, I've seen a definite drop in real spam/phishing emails. Not that I want that back, but it's just bizarre.

That would suggest that gmail's spam filter algorithm was changed, meaning that it probably isn't CFC's fault.

The fix I believe is to just send enough mail from spam to your inbox, the filter learns after a while that you actually want Civfanatics stuff.
