[LP] Civilization VI: Leader Pass - Discussion Thread

I haven't played civ6 for over a year and when this was announced I started to get a feel to play it again. Well, that feeling went down the drain.

Mine was fixed about 9 hours ago, so it's been done and it will get round to you. I know it's frustrating, but at least you're not in limbo as to whether it will get fixed.

I do find it a little unfortunate that I got the fix at a time I couldn't play. I know it doesn't work that way, but perhaps someone else could have done with it more while I could wait.

The update is being rolled out at the moment, have a look in this thread for support.
I am already following the technical issues thread. I meant an "official" support address: Do I have to write to Steam or to Firaxis or to 2K? And does it matter that I live in Germany?
I bought their product and it does not work as advertised. I would have had no problem if they set the price to 20 or 30 Dollars/Euros, but first saying it's free and then not deliver it hoping people will pay their 20 bucks voluntarily, that's really odd.

idk for who? anyone got this? I have still no DLC, 3 of my friends the same
Then I recommend creating ticket at 2K support. Currently there are two possibilities. Either you're still in the queue for a fix, or "system" decided you're not eligible for free pass. Either way, support team should be able to handle that for you or give you information.

so whats the point? They gonna tell me just wait, like thousands players

The point is to not wait endlessly with growing frustration if it's not happen for your account when it should and you're no longer in the queue. That's what support teams are for.

It does matter, because the intent of reviews isn't to provide an outlet for your frustration.
Yes it is? I think we have completely different perspectives on this. I don't see reviewing as merely a collective effort to inform, but simply as the expression of individual experience, which of course includes frustration. The rating and whole picture emerge from the assemblage of individual experiences. A user can then read through reviews and make up his mind.

They're there to help guide future buyers, either to reassure them that it's a quality product worth buying...or to warn them of a bad product. If it's only a temporary set back (or boon)...then it's worse than useless as a review, because it is telling people it's a bad product, when it's not, it's been fixed (or at least will be). If it isn't fixed...then go ahead, warn people it's broken.
1. It's a permanent set back if the person who left the negative review has no intention of re-engaging with it. If they do, they can change the rating to a positive one.

2. You're essentially claiming that it is the consumer's responsibility to fulfill some sort of quality assurance function, and keep track of how it progresses over time.

The practice of broken releases is becoming widespread and it's perfectly understandable that people have reached the point of zero tolerance.

3. Not every user is as informed as we are here. You take it for granted that "temporary set back" is something obvious.

If you're just angry and looking to vent, do something more productive. Write an angry email to Firaxis or complain on social media.
Social media might work for those who use it. Emails are pointless as they have no potential of causing negative consequences to a company, and therefore no incentive to change.

Leaving a bad review because your free content didn't arrive for a day after release is not helpful and is a big reason why customer reviews aren't reliable - too often, they're reviewing the wrong thing.

Their experience counts. Those who bought it, those who were expecting bug fixes, those who don't like the leaders even if it's free, those who were disappointed by NFP and willing to give Firaxis a chance only to be disappoonted again.

I find reviews on Steam very helpful and the system top notch, as you can apply different sorts of filters to really get a good picture.

Anyway, I think we can agree to disagree as we essentially have basic differences on the matter.

So, I've created. Will wait how it can help
Have you tried the trick explained in the other thread? It will cost you 90 cents but it might be worth it.

If you're entitled to LP for free, then the Anthology should appear as "€0.00" to you. Look for the "Add to Cart" button (Add to Account won't work), then add another cheap game.

If you attempt to buy Anthology for €0.00 it will result in an error, but if you have a second item in the cart the purchase goes through. Or at least it has for most people. We're all buying a chess game for 90 cents.

I agree with @AntSou on the matter.
A review is an expression of personal experience with product, and I expect said product to work the way it was advertised. Doesn't matter if it's paid or free content.
It still can't use any of the new leaders, apart from Julius, and Leader Pass says I have to pay for it to get it, which is opposite of what was advertised. Adding the fact that after the update game went to vanilla and had to wait for another update just to undo it is bizarre.
I'm under no obligation to use any workaround and Firaxis just reminded me, I don't need their product in my life.

I still don’t have access. This is frankly feeling ridiculous and I’m not going to do some trick to buy a game and then refund it.
Agreed. The issue isn’t that I am desperate to play the new DLC. I don’t need to mess around with a workaround, even if it cost me nothing. 2K still need to fix the issue at source. For everyone.

I understand the sentiment and you're absolutely right... on the other hand the 90-cent chess game looks kinda neat and might be worth a try.

It's just a matter of how much you want to play the new leaders. This is not the "moral" solution, but it is the "no headache" solution.

I was motivated to try it to see if it would finally add Teddy and Catherine to my list of DLC, and it worked, so I'm happy.
