Agreed. The issue isn’t that I am desperate to play the new DLC. I don’t need to mess around with a workaround, even if it cost me nothing. 2K still need to fix the issue at source. For everyone.

There are doubtlessly fans who are not as informed about this as we civfanatics are who have needlessly spent $20 buying the pass. I’ve even seen it on this very forum!

I feel really bad for whomever that happens to, and that is why a fix needs to come ASAP. Not simply because I’m inconvenienced or annoyed that I took a day off of work for no reason.

The issue has existed for months for me and some other people who have been getting the steam bug when attempting to get the Teddy and Catherine persona. It seems Firaxis was unaware of it.

That same issue is now being experienced with LP on a much larger scale.

The solution might take longer than expected because it seems to be an issue on the part of Steam.

I solved the problem by buying the leader pass on steam together with a product worth half a dollar, after the update the leader pass had zero in the cart.

I wasn't planning on playing until I got a new computer for Christmas anyways, so yeah there's no reason right now for me to buy anything else to get it now. Hopefully the issue gets solved by then.

I am beginning to think that they staged this whole download chaos on purpose so that many confused users actually BUY the leader pass although they should get it for free according to the previous announcements. If that were true, I would call this borderline criminal behavior.

I just wrote a request to the 2K support, but I am not very hopeful that this will help. How should I prove to them that I own all previously released Civ6 material? Do they have access to my steam account? (I had to give my steam ID on the request form.)

I did the work around and got the DLC working. While the new leaders show up in simple game start, they still do not show up in advanced setup.

Edit: Oh! They just don't show up in pre LP advanced setup saves. Not really a biggie.

People do realize that not being able to buy the Anthology for $0 is Steam's problem, right? Neither Firaxis or 2K can control how the Steam store works.

Jumping to assumptions that Firaxis set out to scam their playerbase with a manufactured debacle over a free DLC pack and intentionally lose all of the goodwill the Civ team has cumulatively built just to make a quick buck is depressingly pessimistic

I did the EP workaround. Do you otherwise have to submit a ticket? Are they manually fixing everyone? Surely not.

I did the workaround and just requested a refund for the 90 cents I spent on the chess game. Played with Kongo last night -- nothing groundbreaking to report. Shockingly, the leaders have not drastically improved my quality of life.

I think you're asking a bit much out of a video game.

Yes! I play on Mac -- Aspyr asked me to uninstall and reinstall. Then, I did the chess game fix on Steam. I have been able to play with new leaders and JC since yesterday evening.
