I like female leaders, but they need to have some merit behind their inclusion. The vast majority do. Maria, to me, was included only because she was female. She was notable for being mad and for fleeing her country during the Napoleonic Wars. Just the pits.
To be fair, I think Maria is much more important to Portuguese history than Kristina and Seondeok are to their respective countries. I think if those 2 make it, the only "standard" at this point is "if the devs feel like it".
On the topic of new animations, it looks like Basil is gonna have a unique denounce animation, so we may see an end to recycled animations with this pack.

there seems to always be one leader per release blob which the devs like to go all out, like kupe in GS, and i assume the gaulish leader is that for NF
Which is why the cuban people brave crossing the shark filled sea to reach USA in rafts... see why I talk about confused people? No worse blind than the one unwilling to see by their ideologies
ANYWAY
While I'd personally prefer Semiramis, since the Mediterranean-ish old civs are my stuff, I think that we're gonna get Nanyehi since "female native leader" is far more different than another Mediterranean-ish female leader

While I hope Semiramis never appears in the game, you've changed my mind about the Cherokee: Nanyehi would be a great choice (much better than Jigonhsasee). Not to say I wouldn't still prefer the Choctaw for the Southeast, but I grant Nanyehi would make the Cherokee viable in my mind.

I have very mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I'm happy to see more unique animations, but on the other hand, having only three leaders with reused animations feels sort of like a very noticeable nail sticking out of a plank of wood. Sort of like the whole "bed of nails" thing.

It's weird indeed. I can kinda understand why LSS and Simon had reused animations cuz they were the first ones, but even Menelik also having reused animations convinced me that this would be the case for everyone after.

I have a feeling that if they go with the Trung Sisters for Vietnam, its gonna be more like a Suleiman situation, where Trưng Trắc would be the leader, while Trưng Nhị would be a unique governor.
