Ireland better get a UI and a LUI:

Monastery and Pub

For the Berbers question, some said that having them as a desert civ while already having the Mali would just be redundant, but I disagree. We already had Russia as the tundra civ, and they managed to make another tundra civ as Canada. Sure, it's gimmicky and not truly historical, but in term of gameplays they're truly fun, especially now that they are strong on tundra with the April update.
Funnily enough they made Canada able to truly thrive in tundra, while Russia gets huge parts of land that just so happened to include tundra, but can't do much at all with them. At least with Russia that sounds very accurate.

Spike Milligan has a documentary up on YouTube of the old abandoned Irish moon rocket launch.

If you search on youtube for "Irish Moon Rocket" it is the first match (yes, it's black and white). That picture might give some inspiration for a special Irish version of the Spaceport.
So they get a malus of not being able to win a science victory with their unique spaceport? :mischief:

Tbh, I kinda like the Irish Pub idea for some kind of unique building...I'm thinking as a replacement for the Amphitheater. Bonus would be that it gains +1 great musician point, +1 great music slot, and +1 amenity for each farm-improved bonus resource in the city. I mean who hasn't been to a local pub and hasn't seen some "song" being "written" by two guys hugging each other and yelling from the top of a chair while trying not to spill their Guinness? And it makes sense for tourism given how irish pubs are hotspots for tourists in cities all over the globe.

Once again, if we have hockey rinks and golf courses there's no stopping the cheesy (Yet hilarious) stereotyping of the Civ team.

Yeah, I'd actually make the Irish Pub a building Ireland can build in other Civs cities as well, that gives amenities for the host city, and bonus tourism for Ireland.

Counterpoint: Scotland and Canada didn't have obvious UIs. Ireland does: the Monastery. If Ireland gets in, it's going to be the How the Irish Saved Civilization/Book of Kells civ because that's the pop history version of Irish history (and honestly it's not too far off as far as pop history goes, if a tad melodramatic--but that's pop history for you). I mean, sure, Firaxis could make their symbol a shamrock, give them a Pub UI and a Leprechaun UU, and make their leader the Lucky Charms Leprechaun, but I think Ireland has enough presence in both pop culture and pop history to avoid that...

Of course, new gameplays should be founded. Russia is a "more territory, faith and trade route", civ, Canada is a "national parks, tourism and diplomacy" civ, so it was easy to make them different. Mali is the "trade/religious" desert civ, so making the Berbers another trade desert civ would truly be redundant in this case. "Building farms on desert" would just seems like a rip-off of Canada's "farms on tundra". If Berbers are a desert civ, they would need to find a truly unique gameplay so that they won't be a simple "Mali bis"

Well that's what I'm saying complicates the Berbers, is that they can't be a a trade/religious desert civ (also we do have a second "kinda" desert civ in Nubia). I could see the Berbers synthesizing elements from several of the other terrain civs. Have farms on desert like Canada, have large city tiles like Russia, force spread out districts like Gaul, etc. There are definitely things the devs could do, but I am struggling to think of a specific gameplay style/niche/gimmick that one could build around that. I.e., how will they primarily interact with other civs, and what victory conditions would they want to pursue? How would they manage to not feel like Mali or Scythia?

I could very easily see the devs just throwing their hands up at the Berbers and settling on the Navajo as a second desert civ. Which disappoints me to say, because I do think, had Mali and the Ottomans been designed differently, the Berbers might have more design space to work with.

You know there's no reason why they couldn't do that for the current Golf Course for Scotland. :mischief:

I mean we already have Armagh with a Shamrock icon and a monastery UI so maybe we already have the best of both worlds.

Does it? For some reason my brain remembers Armagh having a trinity knot; at any rate, I think an Irish civ's symbol should be the Irish harp, just like their modern coat of arms. Also Armagh's monastery is dull. I'd make it a unique Holy Site, cannot be built adjacent to the city center or any other district, and its buildings have bonus Great Work of Writing slots.

Maybe a mod? I've seen mod that is changing Firaxis thematic flavour icons (like Lotus for India) into more herladic and representative ones.

Yes it does.
Honestly maybe the trinity knot might seem a little too similar to Norway's symbol but hey that doesn't stop us from getting a multitude of eagles every game.

1: Armagh does indeed have the Shamrock, and you're just experiencing the Mandela Effect. :P Just kidding about the last part.
2: For some reason, the Monastery gains Bonuses from being adjacent to Districts. Why? I don't know, they probably didn't think it through properly.

I've seen that mod, too, but I don't use it. Just my brain playing tricks on me.

+1 point in favor the harp. :mischief:

I can see them granting faith if adjacent to a Holy Site or Campus, but losing faith if adjacent to any others.

Holy Sites, I agree with you on that. Not sure about Campuses, though.

Well monks studied too.
On second thought that sounds a little too much like the Mahavihara unique improvement for Nalanda, so maybe no Campuses.

Speaking of Ireland, the biggest question is which Irish song is going to serve as the Irish soundtrack (Imagine if it was an Irish rebel song :mischief:)

"O Danny Boy" is gonna fit in there somewhere. Maybe not as the main tune, but it's gonna be riffed.

Well, from @Ryansinbela, The Monahan Twig is a suggestion.
