[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

Yes we are so stupid for being excited and wanting to signal our support to the team by buying the pass and showing them we like this approach :)

Nevermind the modest savings or bonus content we get by purchasing the entire pass at once :)

That's not what the discussion is about, it's about buying the pass today, instead of waiting until Thursday, when it is released.

I can't see any logic in people wanting to pay in advance for a digital product that can't run out or doesn't have any bonuses for doing so, but there you go. :)

It's an option for people who trust a company/IP and wish to save some money since it's usually a bit cheaper than the price at release, or just wish to support the company. In this case you get two extra alts on top for free.

On the other hand, plenty of consumers are willing to pre-order products from companies who repeatedly prove to be untrustworthy. I'm with you in that case.

But this is a moot point — as far as I can see the New Frontiers pass is not currently available for pre-purchase.

God, it's so easy to take things out of context on the internet :crazyeye:

Does anyone know if there will be a preorder option I'm really looking forward to thid

I'm surprised there's no preorder available yet for those who just want to go ahead and pay for it already. I can't see any logic to not starting to take orders as soon as it was announced.

Enough time wasted on this, let's just move on. :)

I'm happy to wait until Thursday to buy it, but I do find it odd it's not available for pre-purchase. Hopefully it will when the second FL is released.

I have not played Civ since before the release of the latest patch (September 2019 wasn't it?) I thought I should skip that patch in favor of a grander experience when the next one landed. Now I fear I lost my enthusiasm to play the game.

Am I the only one who can't care less about the new pack they recently announced? My only curiosity is just to read the accompanying patch notes (There will be an accompanying patch, right?). Even then, I am not sure I will return to the game.

The wait was just too damn long.

I am incredibly excited and hyped and judging by the flurry of activity here most other users are too.

Each to their own - this is the Civfanatics forum, after all, so chances are the majority of us are going to lap up almost any new content the devs come up with. The only DLC/update I've had pretty much zero interest in that I can recall was the Red Death thing (nice idea, but I almost never do multiplayer). But I'm sure across the wider fanbase, you won't be alone in feeling this way.

And yes, there definitely will be a patch with patch notes, hopefully to come out next week with the DLC :)

Maybe not the only one but this is Civfanatics so there is going to be a lot of hype for new content. Especially after the Maya were announced who were one of the biggest omissions that the game had and Ethiopia coming up as well.

I've also been waiting a long time for The Winds of Winter. I'll be grateful though when, if, it comes.

I'm also firmly in the camp of being more interested in patch notes. I'm really hoping for additional content that can be used by any civ such as more units to fill in the gaps in the tech tree. What about a map replay.

New civs is nice and all but that just feels like fluff. Like someone else said earlier in this thread, most of the civs feel very similar both when playing as them and when fighting against them. Having said that the Maya are one of the few that seem to buck this trend.

Oh man, completely disagree here. The playstyles and differences across civilizations and leaders in Civ VI is faaar beyond faction differences in any similar historical strategy game, much less prior entries in the series. You can critique this game for a lot of things, but a "samey feeling" across factions really isn't one of them IMO.

It might be because I almost exclusively play multiplayer

From the free updates I’m hoping for a larger earth map. With ynamp being discontinued, we need something with room for more than 1 city in Japan/U.K./Italy/Greece. It doesn’t have to be super huge, but I’d like something larger than what’s currently in the game.

YNAMP is not being discontinued. @SeelingCat is carrying it forward!

Time to speculate what Kevin means by get outta here.

Surely some hidden message regarding the new Civ/Leader? SURELY! Notice the "wow, no way, get outta here" tone at the end of the sentence. To me that indicates only one possibility.

Baby Yoda as alt for Korea. He sings K-Pop when he's happy.

I think it is posts like this that is 100% why Kevin made the tweet

Wow I'm surprised, it's 4 minutes past 10 and no one has asked where the first look is yet

I don't think there has been a Friday one?

Now that the first one is out of the way, the imperative has been satiated and expectations have been mostly calibrated.

There is also no second sneaky hidden video in the New Frontier Pass playlist to get people excited ;)
