[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

Andrew's comment about 'Riding the storm" is a hint to Lady Trieu. It's a quote directly in her wikipedia article. "I'd like to ride storms, kill sharks in the open sea, drive out the aggressors, reconquer the country, undo the ties of serfdom, and never bend my back to be the concubine of whatever man."

The name Thang Long doesn't exist until 11th century.
Considering she never ruled Vietnam as queen they would have to give her some capital.
Not saying she is the leader but that is a possibility.

The thing is Lord Lakely thinks Le Loi isn't a possibility just because of the capital name, while Dong Kinh and Thang Long are literally the same place. Thang Long is waaaaay to anachronistic to be her capital. Even if she doesn't have a capital, she has a base for her military.

It would be a very baffling oversight, given that Andrew's posts here have shown him to possess a near-encyclopedic amount of knowledge of south-east asian history.

But then again, we are a place that complains about how Kublai Khan's Mongol model isn't Mongol enough, so...

(nb: personally, I like the idea of Lady Trieu and I am secretly hoping it is an oversight. :teehee: )

Not sure if anyone is interested, but I think the unique unit is a unique crossbow, from the blurry text it seems like the name is "No Than" (I can't type the diacritics right now cuz I'm at work).

Well there be only one left to guess

I've just realised the Andrew who posts here is the same guy who appears in the video.

I mean, sure, they have the exact same name, but somehow my brain did not compute that.

the giant-ass '[FXS]' in his username is a small, easy-to-miss hint.

When they're building the Pirserve district Video, we can see a Unique Encampment District, the Screen moves away too quickly, but I Caught the Name as "Thanh", or something like that.

Wouldnt be the first time an old/new name for a city was incorrectly used as the capital. I’m thinking Patna for Chandragupta, Ra-Kedet for Egypt, even Angkor Thom for Jayavarman.

I’m inclined to believe that it will be Le Loi and they’re just using the newer name for the city for ??? reason

nice to see @Andrew Johnson [FXS] in a first look again, this time flexing his Vietnamese knowledge.

We have a picture of the leader who is explicitly a female figure.
That! That is Lady Trieu. It fits the portrayals of her. It would also explain the temper.

But will she toss her oversized breasts over her shoulders? :shifty:
I really hope they don't depict her with cringy huge breasts and jiggle physics.
