pre-release info Civilization VII - Content Spreadsheet Thread - Civ overview!

pre-release info
Not mad but the Southern Hemisphere is very under represented in this game.
Inca only. With Buganda and Majapahit on the border.
Well you can partially blame the Globe for that

Southern hemisphere land (not counting Antarctica with no humans) 34 mill km2
Northern hemisphere land 102 mill km2

So you'd expect no more than 25% from the Southern hemisphere anyways

And since most of it was varying degrees of disconnected from the rest of the world (South America only connected to the Americas, Australia with little contact and Southern Africa separated just by distance)... they didn't get remembered as much

Additionally, according to Wikipedia only 10% of the population lives in the southern hemisphere.

That being said I would still like more representation there as well!

Definitely would be interesting to get earlier ones like Zimbabwe, Khoisan, Tonga, Antiquity S America, Aboriginal Australia
And Modern ones like Brazil, Argentina, Maori, Boer

I wonder if we will see any IPs based in Tibet and Xinjiang (like Uyghurs, Kashgar, Khotan, Tocharians). Due to how touchy the Chinese government is with those areas.....

Not sure if this has been posted somewhere yet, but Andrew Johnson teases an eventual Siamese leader on X:

Uh ok, minor update today, a single new IP, showed up here
Mahabalipuram of the Pallava People? (Exploration)
Today there was new review video that almost got who the Syvash people is, but no luck there.
Also, people are speculating Kabul is IP settlement and not a Mughal city, but we can't be sure in any cases I let Afghanistan as implicated IP for now...
So that's all for today @bite , I feel we only will get more news, the whole thing in that case, once the early access drops next week

So as you can see above, that was it for today it seems...
Confimation of the Tichitt People and a new IP:
Túcume of the Sican or Lambayeque People (Presumably) - Exploration
EDIT: Syvash's people is the Huns??? I didn't expect that

And that's it for today @bite, nothing more I guess

I don't know why they use Syvash, I don't know why it's the Huns, but Syvash (锡瓦什) is leading by the Huns (匈人).

Some more confirmation for the Antiquity Age IPs. Baekje people(百济人) leading Wiryeseong (慰礼城), Oponean people(奥波内安人) leading Opone (奥波内), Isreali people(以色列人) leading Shomron / Samaria (撒玛利亚).

Isreali people(以色列人) leading Shomron / Samaria (撒玛利亚).
They've been called Retenu, from the Egyptian Retjenu/Reṯenu, in the English localization, I believe.

No suprises here, cool to confirm it.
Oponean people(奥波内安人) leading Opone (奥波内)
Huh, I swear they where using Opone to have a settlement for Punt, I got it wrong, but if it's Oponean per se that's interesting choice indeed.
Isreali people(以色列人) leading Shomron / Samaria (撒玛利亚)
Now that is a good info, just to be sure, Chinese doesn't conflate the terms for "Hebrews" and "Israelis" as the same word right? If that's the case it opens the possibility for Jerusalem to appear for "Juddeans" (or the literal Outremer kingdom of Jerusalem in the next age...), still I wonder if the English loc. do the same thing or not and goes with the more general term "Hebrew".
To be polite, lately the use of "Israeli" unfortunately is as non-controversial as capybaras are fish according to Catholics, personally I would love seing Tel Aviv appering in Modern, but that is as likely as seeing Taipei being anywhere near the word "independent" in the game, so yeah.

As KKSSep said above, these are different IP's, so Retenu is the settlement for the Hyksos (don't ask me why they didn't use Avaris) that well fits thematically when you think about it; Shomron is shown to be Israel now, but beyond these we also have Megiddo for the Canaanites and Tyre (it's "Sur" in Chinese loc.) for Phoenicia and there's a separated Carthage too for Carthaginians.

Dhar Tichitt is confirmed leading by Tichitt people.

This one is interesting. Tichitt is an important trade city on the trans-Sahara trade route on its own, and it is an UNESCO World Heritage Site today for that reason. Dhar Tichitt, on the other hand, is the name of a massive sandstone cliff that lies beyond the town (the cliff is named after the town, I think), and the cliff then gave name to a nearby archeological culture called Tichitt culture. Hence, the name "Dhar Tichitt" does not refer to a settlement or city at all in real life.

No, words that related to ethnicities had very well organized in Chinese (except the Turk- s), if Firaxis want to, they can have more than 5 different "Yue"s in the Antiquity Age. However, "Jewish" goes to "犹太" (Youtai), "Juddeans" goes to "犹地亚人" (Youdiya), "Judah" goes to "犹大" (Youda), "Hebrew" goes to "希伯来“ (Xibolai), "Israel" goes to "以色列” (Yiselie), etc.
