on ufopedia is a assortment of files to help you with your task of defending the earth.
UU: scientists and engineer(specialists, put in underground bases, your cities....you have no stability map as your job is defense against ET), soldiers(mix and match equipment sets. XCOM style.)
UB: all the bases structures from oldCOM. And by the way, you have to organize them, as each base has limited space.
UHV: none. Vigilo Confido. always vigilant, always reliable. That is your motto. You will not rest until ET is defeated.
Unique Victory Condition: XCOM instead can only win one way: destroy the alien leader on mars. This wakes up...the terror in the deep. You then. Need to destroy the city...which kills most life on earth...you then need to reclaim the earth and continue protecting against ET, until you destroy them.
Unique start: XCOM is founded by a special event that the game asks if you want enabled at the beginning of the game, that causes ET to show up and start attacking. XCOM is then founded...if XCOM wins, all humans win. Also, all players are put in permanment alliance with XCOM, and each other, and all victory conditions disabled once the event is triggered. You can then choose to switch to XCOM.
NOT ENOUGH TIME UNITS. Oh crap.

Salarians get a large research bonus, but get a ton of events involving things going wrong. Also, massive bonus to espionage.
Hanar get bonus to naval warfare.
Volus buy the best money can buy, so they have elite ships...just they have one dreadnought. It's a badass on though. Also, 10000% increase to all commerce, as they own the Citadel economy.
Asari are liked by everyone...resist the temptation...resist...resist...!!!AH I CAN'T RESIST IT ANY MORE!!!-typical thoughts of any species towards Asari...including the asexual Salarians.
Humans get a bonus to fixing Salarian problems and getting leaders to do something. Also get a overall military bonus. Just don't complain about Batarian relations.
Turians...don't forget the military bonuses.
Batarians: slavery always enabled... Worst relations possible. Don't try to deal with them, just conquer them.
Drell:they are perma alliances with Hanar, and are the best assassins.
Shepard: stay out of his way.
