Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread II

Something like that. I had something in my voicemail earlier, and when I played it back, it was just 3 seconds of static, and when I went in to delete it, the touchscreen went black and stopped responding, but I could still see the system icons at the top of the screen, but I had to hit the homescreen button to get anything, so once I did, i went straight to my visual voicemail app in my settings and forced a stop.

Do I have enough hard drive space?

I hate to say 'enough hd space' under most any circumstances but I'd agree that's a reasonable amount - I wish I had as much.

Just sounds like your phone crashed. Turn it off and on and I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

Yeah, it happens every now and again. Mine has done that a few times and rebooting has fixed it each time.
That was the weird part. I simply needed to push the little button on the touchscreen that takes you straight to desktop, rather than rebooting the whole thing. Once it took me to the desktop, I then went into settings>apps> and force stopped on the offending app.

HTML/CSS problem:

I'm making a website. I'd like to put there a table inside id box. The id box has text and the table inside. When I write the table code between some text, it always goes to the bottom of the site, though I wanted it in the middle of the text. I don't know what to do! Can you help?

Nooope!

I didn't know you could Control-Alt-Delete things on the phone.

Solved. I took a prt sc picture of the table and put the photo on my website :D!

Is there no easy way of merging those different physical drives into one seamless, contiguous logical drive?
That seems like a bad idea because if one drive fails, you'd corrupt the file structure of the whole lot. You could use a RAID setup, but then you've halved your drive space.

A friend gave me his Gateway, Model GM 5483E, it needs a new hard drive. My question, it has a Pentium D925 dual core with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Will it run Civ 4?

Yeah, there are a bunch of ways. Windows Storage Spaces does it, as do several third party programs depending on OS. I use SnapRAID for redundancy, which has some basic pooling support (though it also supports third party solutions) so I'd probably just use that for pooling if I was going to bother.

My file organization system wouldn't see much benefit from having a single view though, and it would be of no use for dealing with drive failures.

RAID 0 would give you contiguous chunk of space, but no redundancy. The only RAID level which would halve your disk space is RAID 1, which is only applicable to two drives... I guess you could do nested RAID 1+1+1+1 for eight drives, and so on, but that's super clunky.

Yes, with reduced graphics settings.

I'd be pretty reluctant to put any money into any pre-Core 2 system. At this point a Pentium D925 is slower than a modern smartphone.

Not well. With integrated graphics like that, you'll probably have to use the minimum graphics settings and the processor is going to make turn times a long wait for anything above small/medium maps and number of civs. Probably won't be able to use Marathon/Epic time passage because that creates so many units (and longer turn times.)

tl;dr wouldn't recommend

Eh, civ4 is old, the D925 was a capable processor released a year after civ4 came out.

Zelig and cardgame, thanks for answering my question. Will weigh options on the dual core idea. For my work and all else I use a mac. I use an old Pentium for Civ 4 and yes it is slow so the D925 should be some improvement over that. How much do I want to spend to doddle about with a game is the question. Think i will check into a refurbished dual core.

What would cause my computer to take forever to open files in Notepad2 and Notepad++ for the first time on the programs for the first time after booting up, but still opens standard Notepad just fine even if the first two programs weren't run for the first time yet after booting up?
