Sorry, can't resist. :p
:hammer:

The "lizardmen" are called "Bangaa" the deer-woman is a "Viera" the "Cat-face" is a Moogle and the "puppy-faces" are called "Nu Mous"
Why bother with names? I believe my own terms are more colorful. :p

Otherwise, your game sounds very similar to mine. I only finished the sixth main plotline mission, but my Marche (your XIII) is also a fighter, my bangaa's also a templar, and my viera's also a sniper. :p
I'm planning on turning my Nieve into a sniper, but only after finishing learning the bow-combo skill - what that was...

I also got another human paladin, another human archer (soon to be hunter), Montblanc's got most black mage skills down and is training to be a thief, an animist moogle (soon to be gunner), a dragoon bangaa, a fencer, a black mage and a white mage nu mou. Marche's only level ten, but my white mage is level 14. I probably won't take anymore clan members now though.
Montblanc, for me, is now a time mage... :D

Otherwise I got a puppy-face white mage, a human thief, a human soldier, another puppy-face beastmaster... Only 8 but still early in the game - my clan's only at level 2. :)

These are the six i use most often. Ninja has the best attack, moogle is time mage/black mage, my summoner is also a white mage with a very high attack level, I have a straight white mage, my protagonist charicter is a paladin. However, I have other units running around doing submissions. However, I can do no more dispatch missions at the moment, as they all require items i do not posess

As far as I can tell, the Australian PS2 uses the PAL system, that is, the same system Europe runs on. It's possible, even legal in australia to mod your playstation to play other regions games, but it voids the warrinty.

Well I would suggest modding then. A LOT of games do not come out for the PAL system due to localization and 'expected' sales. It might even be cheaper to import an American game and pay the shipping than to buy from your local game stores. (It sounds that way at least)

XIII - You called a moogle a cat-face... Kupo! Prinnies would kick the crap outta moogles. Dood!

'Puppy Faces'...

I actually see moogles as "bear-faces" rather than "cat-faces" :p

The phrase "puppy-face white mage" just cracked me up

Otherwise, it looks like a start similar to mine when I had about 8 people... although I ended up switching my beastmaster back to a black mage because I have trouble finding a use for him and he fell behind a few levels.

Oh, and most people only have 6 in their party so the average level is higher. Some do go full 23 with a different job for each, it depends on playing style. Personally I'll stick with what I got, three humans, two of everything else. :)

How much is a normal game in the US then? Here's it's 90 SGD for the latest PS2 games and 70 SGD for FFTA (1 USD = 1.75 SGD or so)...

'Cause on the map it self, darn hard to make out the individual characters. Only when you go into your party list and look at the portraits, can you get any sense of physical differentiation. Portraits only show the faces, so... ;) :p

But MontBlanc looks like a cat, or maybe rabbit. And he's a moogle, no? :p

Yeah, my Beastmaster is falling behind too; planning to drop him soon maybe. No use at all during clan battles... unless you happen across monsters... :undecide:

I'm going for the same, but I've already got 4 humans...

I've also worked out a plan to level up forever during a battle... It occurred to me, while playing a clan battle with no missile rule, and the opposition has two archers... hehe. :)

the Australian exchange rate is about 70c to the US dollar, so to import a $50 game it will cost me (do the math... $71...) plus instillation of the mod chip, costing oh, about $100 i guess, plus the price of a PS2+Memory Card $340, will come out to be $511 approx. If I buy local games at $100, and a PS2+Mamory Card at $340, that will come to be $440, $50 cheaper. Now, in order to get my moneys worth, I would have to purchace about four games above this... Perhaps I will, if you can, can any one offer me a site that has information on modding?

God bless Dr Alen Phells, and Australia's tough competition laws that allow such evilness to exsist.

Having read the jobs FAQ a bit for FFTA... for this game, my clan will be thus...

1) Fighter/soldier
2) Paladin/soldier
3) Black mage/Time mage
4) Bishop/Templar
5) Sniper/Archer
6) White Mage/something
7) Gunner/Gadgeter
8) Thief/Ninja
9) Beastmaster/Morpher (maybe dropping...)

Sucks esp with the overlap betw 1 and 2, but I was already well into it, before reading the FAQ... Oh well... :)

Well the average game is $50 USD. Greatest Hits (in case you don't know are games which have sold many copies already) have a SRP of $20, sometimes $25 USD. And then occasionally you find others like Xenogears and Unlimited Saga for $30 USD, but I think maybe they are to be released on 'Greatest Hits' soon so they lower the price to move existing stock?

Zalzabad, check out www.gamefaqs.com

This site has boards, faqs, walkthroughs, reviews, etc. of all consoles and games. Hardware also. I'm not sure on modding though as they may frown on that...? Hell with it, I just started a thread on the topic.

"Messiah Pro 2 or something like that for about $150 in Brisbane."

This is what someone said. I'll keep you updated if I get more detail.

I should suggest making number 2 an archer then hunter, so you can capture monsters to send to the "monster bank" (I think, I haven't tried it yet). Then make Marche a part time paladin as well. You need more Viera (deer-face) than to leave her at Sniper/Archer. She should eventually be an assasain, I think.
Try not to let your beastmaster fall behind. Switch him to a black mage, he'll have oppurtunities there. When you see a dispatch mission he can handle, switch him to beastmaster and let him get the AP points so he can become a morpher. That's what I'm doing at least. :p

At least those are my suggestions... I'm not much further than you (my clans only at seven)

Thanks for those sites, I'll give them a look.

I have remodeled my party too, my Protagonist Palidin will soon be a blue mage, my summoner is now also an elementalist, and my fencer is also a red mage now. soon, no one, not even that judge cid will be able to stop my evil rantings

Well, after another weekend at Disgaea, I have made some progress, again. :) Spent an entire day pumping up my army of 8 into 100-110; then spent Sunday pushing thru the story... Gordon sure is irritating, no? :D I ended the game for the time being with Laharl at 124, with the rest somewhere between 101 and that. Have 2 Testaments now... :)

I tried checking entering the Testament, to discover Lvl 1 creatures were at Lvl 200. Then I remembered having pumping up the diff level many times (I was using 5.3 to power-up my chars a second time)... Damn boring day of my life... :undecide:

After that, the human soldiers and angels were so wimpy that it's well-worth the effort. :)

My cleric can now cast all the spells of the prism mage too. :) Flonne gets to cast the star spells. My archer is ok, but not very powerful... Ronin is good. Etna, the battler, the brawler is so-so.

I'm going to trasmigrate the ronin and archer eventually into their best lvl classes (need more than 10k mana! 18k for ronin!). I'm looking to trans my cleric and brawler into its strongest classes now (but need 12.5k mana... ). My battler? I don't really need another fighter - so maybe the knight class, to open it up...

Bumping thread.

Oh yeah, I'm now at the 4th map of the Celestia chapter. Nearing the end... story-wise but not game-wise. :) I haven't invaded any of the other worlds yet!

I've stripped down all my chars to look at their basic stats. My no.2 and XIII are essentially the exact same. I'm dropping no.2 as well as the beastmaster - I've never been fond of really weird powers... :)

I've recruited a moogle gunner and a human magician (whose base stats, I believe, are even better than Montblanc's) too; these would round up my team of 8. I'll explore other classes in future...

Fr my Disgaea exp, it's always better to operate and manage a smaller team of more powerful individuals, than a bigger team of less powerful individuals. ;)

The human has higher stats than Montblanc because I hear that moogles are bad magi, but moogles can be pretty damn fun with status changes.

I think I have a general plan of my party now:
1) Fighter/Ninja (Marche)
2) Paladin/something (blue mage maybe?)
3) Juggler/Gadgateer (Montblanc)
4) Gunner/Mog Knight
5) Dragoon/Gladiator
6) Templar/Bishop
7) Hunter/something
8) Assasain/Sniper
9) Summoner/Red Mage
10) Sage/Alchemist
11) Illusionist/Time Mage

At least that's the general idea. The easiest way I found to learn beastmaster skills was to take my white mage and make him a Beastmaster/White Mage, and for him to act like a white mage. Works well because he's at least five levels higher than anyone else (I don't think I've ever gone to battle without him).

Coolest job so far I say is the dragoon, with a two-square impaling spear and a jump attack :D Gunners are nice as well, but mine keeps missing or hitting other clan member by accident. (I think it has to do with positioning)

I'm planning on a 2nd game (and a 3rd, 4th etc) to try out the other classes. FFTA has so many dual-classing possibilities that it's tough to try them all within one game. ;)

Mine classes...

1) Fighter/paladin (XIII)
2) Black mage/Time mage (Montblanc)
3) Templar/Bishop
4) Archer/sniper
5) Thief/ninja
6) White mage/something - sage?
7) Gunner/gadgeter
8) Black mage/something

I'm just experimenting with the game for my first round. ;)

Final Fantasy is the best series ever made and that's final :hammer:

Yeah, I agree.
I would probably pair my human Black Mage with a hunter, but that's just me.

Just wondering, how far are you in the actual game? My clans around 7 or 8 and I did about that many of the main plot line missions. I only have about 17 hours in it as well.
