Seems like there's going to be a slew of them heading our way soon...

.hack epd 1 - already out
Xenosaga epd 1 - 25/2/2003 :)
Dark Cloud 2 - soon
Breath of Fire - Dragon Quarter - soon

Star Ocean 3 - Sept?
FFX-2 - Nov

Probably missing out a few more.

Life is good, no? :) Comments?

cool and you can play FF series on PS2 too...
I like RPGS too and if i see wich console has the best RPGs im gonna buy it :)

Final Fantasy Origins is going to come out for playstation, in america, on April 8th. It includes the first FF. (which I have on Nintindo) and Final Fantasy 2 (never before released in america)
Im am going to get it but Im just wondering why they wont have FF3? What possible other game could they package that one with? They already sent us 4, 5, 6, and crono trigger.

Why, the PS2 of course! With its signature FF series... plus lots more. :)

cool but isnt the console getting a little old?besides i heard everquest isplayable singleplayer on X-box

There's Everquest Online for the PS2 as well... just released. Never heard of EQ SP before; it wouldn't be EQ w/o the online component...

Anyway, you can play lots of other games on the PS2 like GTA e.g.

hmmm...But if i buy a console it must be one i still play with 5 years later....Iheard the FF series will be brought on the gamecube as well+an GBA version

Played .hack over the weekend. Short game, almost finished (lost last battle against what I believed to be the final big boss; couldn't even get a hit in  )...

Game is fairly good, with some minor complaints. OK, so I absolutely love it. :)

Nice presentation and game mechanics. Story is moved thru a combination of 'emails', 'message board postings' and the standard cutscenes. Almost like playing a MMORPG; all those logging in and out of the game...

Plus the data-hacking ability is fascinating. They devise it in such a way; you'll need to 'harvest' 'virus cores' fr monsters before you can hack into certain 'protected' dungeons (where the points for the next level of the story are). Cool concept. Sometimes you get equipment instead. Sometimes you get negative effects, if you overhack too much ('cause you're 'infected').

I won't spoil the story, but IMO, it's quite a refreshing take on the usual fantasy angle...

Major complaints - too short. Supposedly only a 20-hr game... Though parts 2-4 are coming in-between 3-4 months.

And the battles are in real-time, though you can pause anytime to use a skill, or an item. You have no control over the other members in your party either though you can order them around. Sometimes it is very confusing, during the heat of a battle. Plus you need to adjust your camera angle frequently to be able to lock on monsters, before attacking.

I can't wait for episode 2. :D

After maxing out my .hack game..., next is Dark Cloud 2. :D

Action RPG; 'live' battles. Takes some getting used to. Lots of hand wriggling about and 'tense' action.

Graphics-wise, it's fairly good though the characters are too cartoonish for me. But the background is excellent.

I'm somewhere in the middle of Chpt 2. Story and plot are normal i.e. save the world type. Though the way the story proceeds is definitely not normal. You have to build whole towns fr Chpt 2 onwards and populate them... to get on with the story.

Dungeon crawl is a long continuos series of dungeons linked on a map. You have to clear each one by one. After clearing each, you can always return to town to restock stuff, repair robot etc. And later return to go at the next dungeon in the series. ;)

Lots of interesting side-games like the fishing one. :) Though I suck at it... Also the inventing game seems cool.

Leveling up is via weopan improvements - rather unusual. To level up def and HPs, you need to open certain boxes in town areas... I spent eons looking for every last one at first, but now just opened as I see them...

Quite a fun game. :) It's going to take some time...

Anyone out there reading this? :hmm:

Still continuing Dark Cloud 2. Now in the beginning of Chapter 4 - something to do with a baby sea dragon. Got stuck for the longest time, in the Rainbow Butterfly at end of Chapter 2...

I think I have found or figured out all the mini-games. :) There's fishing, golf (spheda - but it's really golf), the inventing game (useful to add additional pieces of stuff to your Ridepod), the scoops game (taking pix of 'scoops' as requested by an NPC)...

Also collecting medals, by accomplishing certain objectives in each dungeon. You can exchange these medals for cool stuff, like changing the name (I assume either Max or Monica), new clothes etc.

But so many leveling up to do. There's Max's wrench and gun; then Monica's sword and armband. And then, there's the Ridepod; and every monster badge in Monica's monster transformation thingie (each monster transformation can be levelled up, for a more effective fighter). Geez...

This is going to be another long, deep game with all its mini-games... I hate golf and fishing...
