I'm prbly around halfway into Xenosaga atm. One thing that suprised me is how difficult it feels. I keep losing a couple of times on the boss battles before getting them right, something that rarely happens in other games. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong.. Love the card game though! They actually put a full-fledged CCG in there; I just hope they repeat it for the sequel. You can also catch the occasional Xenogears reference if you've played its 'precursor'
The last one I played was Suikoden 3. Haven't gotten my hands on the previous 2 yet (they're hard to find), but I was impressed by this one. It had a decent story and a bunch of characters, but it wasn't a very 'large' game. ie. not that many locations, and they aren't very large or complex. You could prbly breeze right through it if you wanted, but I certainly didn't.
Looks like DQ 8 will be out in Japan next year. *sigh* So many games, so little time..
I just bought FFX for PS2 on ricardo.ch (online auction like ebay) for lousy CHF 27.-- (about USD 18.--). Now I just have to find the time to actually play it
Played Xenosaga over the weekend - it was actually very good.
The battles were somewhat tough, but not unreasonably so - didn't lose any boss battles so far - just so you're well-supplied.
I like the story and the loads of cutscenes a lot, being an anime fan as well me. I esp like how they rework nanotech, beam weopans and etc as the 'ether' or magic in this game. Got tired of the usual sword and sorcery routine in any case...
I almost picked this up but I am really picky/stingy when it comes to games. Koei gives me good gameplay hours so I can't go wrong there. I read something about Xenosaga having either cutscenes ranging from 5 minutes to 45 minutes or maybe it was five 45 minutes cutscenes... Criminy... I thought FFX had too much cutscene... I mean, shorter and spread out is more to my liking.
Heck, I picked up Vice City only when it was $30, and now I hardly played it thanks to Koei...
Logged 12 hours or so of Xenosaga playing time during the weekend
.
Did a 6000 investment, and then 10-15 mins later, an email came in telling me I've gotten a 72000 dividend from it. I now have enough to last 2 or 3 rounds of the next levels of equipment upgrade, for all characters and incl AGWS.
Had just entered the 'Song of Nephilim'. Xenosaga is actually quite good - the plot is deep and serious.
I like the space battle cutscenes - reminds me of the Macross anime and Vari-tech fighters, only in numbers.
I'm beginning to discover Shion is more deeply involved in this whole thing, than as a mere team leader of the KOS-MOS team. Deep...
The boss battles are tough - mainly you'll have to figure out their weaknesses, and react accordingly. Though I only lost one, or two so far... Maybe I am good...
Well Xenosaga is technically a precursor to Xenogears but now they will be redoing it so maybe it isn't such a precursor anymore? Supposed to be 5 or 6 games I believe...
Disgaieoua... Number 1 faq at gamefaqs. You played it XIII?
What can I get cheap, is for hardcores only? Disgaiaueiaia looks to be a big seller if that's what you mean. I saw Xenosaga new for $30, but that was some special sale for one weekend at a small shop out here.
A little OT but not really... Squaresoft is doing FFTactis 2 for Gameboy which sickens me. Also some FFChronicles for GameCube. Seems to be different games for different platforms. I still think a FFTactics2 would have sold bigtime on PS2.
And yah, Ice Hockey. My Avalanche will be entertaining this year.
Less emphasis on story advancement, more emphasis on character development. Stats, classes, abilities etc...
My housemate is picking up the new NHL game tonight, I may tag along for Disgaiaeieuao... Read a little at gameFAQS and people say it blows FFT away and I really liked FFT.
