Current v1.13 Development Discussion

I think a 1900 scenario would be pretty neat because it allows for historical developments that really never (or rarely) happen in earlier scenarios, such as:

+The Scramble for Africa
+The beginnings of the Greater Japanese Empire
+The decline of the Ottoman Empire

And so on. But I presume scenario-building is quite a lot of work for Leoreth, so I'd understand if he didn't want to do it on that basis (especially when there are so many neat features to implement) or disagreed with my basis for implementation (which is entirely reasonable).

No, I'd love to have like a dozen scenarios in this mod. But every one compounds on the amount of work just to keep the mod going and balanced, even on top of the initial cost of creating them.

I was playing a game as America. Turkey and Russia, Communist and in alliance, had conquered continental Europe. Naturally I had to do what I had to do and liberated Europe and eventually seized Istanbul and the rest of Turkey's core. Immediately upon doing so the Ottoman empire collapsed, Moors, Egypt, Greece, Arabia, Persia, and Greece were all reborn. I thought this was a really well done mechanic and wanted to put out my continued compliments for how far along 1.13 has come.

Another small thing, which I thought I saw mentioned but thought I'd mention again - The AI seem to be in eternal revolt in the 20th century. I know it was a tumultuous century politically, but they seem to be changing their governments on a whim.

Regarding the 1900 start - if you decide to go that direction and need help with research on that start I'd be happy to take up some of that burden.

Keep up the good work Leoreth!

Thanks!

Not sure why the AI is behaving like that with its civics in the 20th century.

Polish still rocks with my perpetual golden age. After Eiffel Tower, nothing can stop you.

Impressive. When running the 1700 AD scenario Poland is a sorry excuse for a nation but this is great!

Polish strategy: conquer Russia at all cost, farm every plain, make every tile 2+ food and commerce if possible (except grassland workshop). Once you hit GA, it will skyrocket. Also research patronage and build the Versailles. Steal guilds from Holy Romans, train knights and capture Constantinople after Turk fought Byz.

Barbs seemed to be avoiding my Chinese empire. Eventually I found them.

That's in the Mongol flip zone though.

Okay I'm completely lost at this behavior. Can we have a little brainstorming session trying to determine when this started (revision etc.) and what change might be the cause of this? Because I don't have the slightest idea.

In normal BTS, wandering mafs sometimes stop in a barbarian city to camp there. It might be related to that bit of code.

This is also reminiscent of the huge stacks in North America.

Mafs?

Yeah, as far as I know, a maf is a memory allocation failure

But even then I can't figure out what it was supposed to be.

Just a guess. Dont know if it is connected to me having the Great wall.

As long as there were only two barbs they hesitated to attack and usually retreated without fight. As soon as they grouped in fours they attacked (and in vincinity of my empire).

I don't think so. Barbarians act like this in North America too. At their spawn, I change via WB their AI from "Attack_City" to "Attack" just to avoid their current strange behaviour.
