That's kind of besides the point. We can talk about optimal solutions and the practicality of those, but as of now I need to make some decision which suboptimal solution to use until we get there. If there is an option (d) it is:

d) Make use of language-neutral female sounds used by spies, if appropriate.

If possible D.
This option covers all civs and is (IMO) sufficient to get female sounds.

Otherwise B.
I think the units should have female sounds instead of male sounds. Otherwise the "female GP modcomp" doesn't feel completed to me.
Also, I think some people wouldn't even notice if the unit is talking English instead of the native language. I think many people don't listen with full attention to the selection sounds. For me, I only hear that something is said, but I don't know what is said. (And I think I'm not the only one) So it's not really important what it says, so English is fine for me. But you can hear the difference between male and female voices, even when you don't pay much attention to it.

Spoiler :
For me, it doesn't matter, because I play without sounds anyway. But for the mod, I think this option is the best.

What if you take the male voices and use some sort of audio editing program to change the pitch and bass and such so that they are female?

I think this would be a realistic solution if there's someone who knows how to do it. My understanding is that it's easy with the right software but couldn't do it myself.

Otherwise, I'd prefer to keep with the male sounds but think using a female English voice would be okay, too.

I'm on vacation over the weekend, so I'll see next week!

I mean I used a cheap one to make my voice female. I'm sure you could find a free one that lets you change inflection and such.

Okay so it might be more difficult than I thought. I'm sure that someone somewhere knows how to do it and is more than willing.

Also, is it just me, or is it nearly impossible to peacevassal anyone in the last couple of revisions?
I feel like it needs to be adjusted because I don't even see civs vassalizing to each other anymore.

Seconded. To go even further back in the thread - playing a Roman Marathon and the Visigoth barbs in Iberia (and the Huns anywhere) just walked all the way to Persian Turkey to ravage that instead. The French Visigoths attacked Besancon as expected (yeah I was experimenting, Besancon and Nantes, French stuck their capital in Limoges too)

New commit:
- fixed female GP birth mechanic
- changed female GPs to mute so they match male GPs

The discussion from last week was pretty much pointless, as it turned out male GPs themselves are mute so I modified female GPs to match that, which solved that problem.

 Wow. How did all the participants of that discussion manage to overlook that?

GPs aren't mute. Great Artists and Great Scientists definitely make very male sounds when they use their respective abilities.
Oh, those sounds. I'm curious where they are defined now, because they don't belong to select or command sounds which they indeed lack.

Those sounds are definitely language-unspecific so it should be possible to find a replacement.

In the 3000 BC scenario late game civs are often very feeble compared to the old civs that mass units for hundreds of years. AI could use buffed starting stacks, even at peace. They tend to be dominated or vassalized too easy.

Human can on the other hand keep existing stacks.

The game on large is very enjoyable in the SVN! :)

So many updates about Female GPs! Feels like Leoreth got a girlfriend and wants to please her!

Yes, because there can't possibly be another reason for trying to include more women. It's not as if they make up half of humanity.

More, even.

Well, if we ignore that most humans are lizards in disguise...

What are those 'women' everyone keeps talking about?

I wonder, Imp. Knoedel, is The Watermill male or female in its essence? The worshippers, do they call The Watermill a Him or a Her?
