Vbefolka-tystnad

The high step plateau of the Vbefolka-tystnad homeland is a windy dry steppe. While its river basins are fertile and verdant the steppe-land is hot and dusty during the summer and cold and foreboding during the long winters. A land such as this could only give rise to the children of the step, guardians of the gates of death, the Vbefolka-tystnad.
The Vbefolka-tystnad are a matriarchal people and believe that their first queen received the first of the prophecies from the gravvård-vviska (grave-whispers), secrets of the ancients and of the spirit world, and that, in her wisdom and power, hung herself so that she might straddle the land between the living and the dead. Then, not living and not alive, she recieved the wisdoms and teachings that went on to become the culture and religion of the Vbefolka-tystnad.
Today the Vbefolka-tystnad live a life of fishing and farming along the lengths of the great river (they are excellent river boatsmen and the river is a sort of highway for the tribes) and hunt and trap amongst the steppe-land. The Vbefolka-tystnad are a scattered people with individual tribes with individual names but despite this divisiveness, they all worship together every 3 years at the grand festival (and find wives and share stories).
Their religion is one of death and for outsiders, can be quite fearsome. They believe that spirits beyond the grave have base desires for the world of the living ranging from simple gluttony for the delicious flavours of the food of the living, to the feel of sun on skin, to lust for living women to more 'grisly' desires such as for human blood or sacrifice. In modern times the faith of the Vbefolka-tystnad offer sacrifices of food and incense but also human lives (prisoners are imprisoned in whicker cages above massive bonfires and die of smoke inhalation). Many of their neighbors know the Vbefolka-tystnad best for their raids upon their people, an effort to bring offerings to the gravvård-vviska.

The Na'jaan are an industrious and creative people. Having settled from a nomadic lifestyle, the villages of the Na'jaan coexisted peacefully along the banks of the Tralan River, farming and fishing, sharing their crops as needed amongst each other. The great shamans of the several tribes learned as much as they could of the land, finding various medicinal plants, while the builders sought to create efficient and fluid designs for homes, workshops, and even whole villages. Thinkers sought knowledge of materials in the mountains and the desert, with many ideas of possible creations that could be made with different kinds of sand, stone and metal. Though they have yet to create any such wonders, many of the ideas have persisted through the years, refined by the following generations. Though they spread very little across the land, they strengthened the bonds between the tribes to better them all. Each tribe is governed by an Elder that is selected out of all the Elders of the village, with candidacy being based solely on the merit of the individual and the deeds done in their life times. There is no segregation between the genders.

Words meaning:
Uz – people
En – of
Kai – victory, winning
Aku – assassin
Nai – beautiful useable tool (usually pottery)
Anne- body of water
Nok – drinkable water
Gid- hot and extremely arid place
Ari- death
Zon- a strong warrior
Ku- strange behavior
Rizak-

Uzenkai – people of victory (people of win)
Akunai –assassins and pottery (city state known for their assassins and manifested goods)
Annenai – water and pottery (a city state that boasts great seaman and beautiful pottery and other manufactured goods)
Zonku – strangeness and warriors (a city state known for a powerful military and a strange behavior or culture that is different then most Uzekai, a city state influenced by others)
Gidari – warm place of death (the closest major desert)
Annenok – body of drinkable water (usually wells, or fresh water springs)
Annekai – water of victory (the major river of the culture on which life is based)

The Uzenkai, which is translated to people of victory, is a culture mostly known for its aggressiveness and beautifully manufactured luxury goods. Their culture is known for its basic motto that "victory is above the means" which means an uzekai will do anything to succeed to other uzenkai and to outsiders. Their sophistication allowed to advanced methods of war and luxury goods making but together with their aggressive and need to be above others it usually bring the rise of major Uzenkai empires and their quick fall. The Uzenkai are normally based around several city states, each with its own special warrior rank and its own special luxury good to sell. The more luxurious goods you own and more types the richer you are in the eyes of an uzenkai. The better warrior you are is measured only on whether or not you win your battles and honor in battles and other areas of life is not cared for among the Uzenkai.
Their belief system, strangely to their sophistication, is simple. Many and animalistic or polytheistic and in some cases even monotheistic but their care for gods and faiths is little, for this life and victory in it is far more important. Victory is usually measured in power over others, influence and mostly the fear that stopps others from trying to achieve victory over you. A ruler will normally assassinate anyone who even dare speaks against him, and a person who wants his throne will usually be secretive about it and attempt to remove the ruler in some other way that direct force. The Uzenkai are sophistication is mostly seen in their ability to built things, invent and mostly in the ability to create plots and plans to gain more power over others. Don't be surprised if you are backstabbed by a uzenkai if it means he will gain power from it. Yet the Uzenkai are not stupid. They know that sometimes working with others would benefit them more then just plainly killing anyone on sight, after all if you don't want to risk loosing your life while still getting beautiful luxury goods you better learn to trade and trade is indeed a major thing among Uzenkai. In some ways Uzenkai are more aggressive in trade then in war. Their aggression since the city states begun gaining power has begun to move towards trade more and more and they will try to cheat you in trade. Don't think they won't.

Mythical history of the Ka-Rwn

The Ka-Rwn were not always a people of bellicose raiders, young ones. Once, when the world was young and the spirits still walked amongst men, they were a peaceful farming people, like the Na'jann. It is said that these people were the ancestors to both the Na'jeen and the Ka-Rwn. We call them the Rwn-Ke-Jek (the People of Great (Bountiful) Food). Not all of these people were content to sit in the valleys and the foothills of the great mountains and farm for their entire lives nether leaving the same village and never seeing the world. These people, the Wk-Rwn (the Flowing People or Wanderers NB. Rn also means to wage war or fight) left their homes and wandered between villages, telling tales and news as a livelihood, always seeking out people like themselves.

Eventually, after many years of wandering, the Wk-Rwn gathered together at the foot of the great mountains. Entire families from the ancient elders down to the new-born babes gathered and together they decided to explore lands beyond those of the Rwn-Ke-Jek. They could not cross the mighty river, the Ke-Wak, so they planned to scale the mountain. At first it was easy and they found they could make great progress in a single day, for it was not so different from walking up and down the steep hills and valleys that had long been their homes.

Suddenly one evening, a week after they had set off, they found the wooded hills they had walked up and enjoyed, ended. In the wooded hills' place they found steep rocky scree slopes and near vertical rock walls. But such things could not deter the hardy Wk-Rwn and they pressed on upwards towards the distant, shining summit. Many of the elders fell, as did the women heavy with child and the younger children.

Regardless the Wk-Rwn carried on and, after many weeks of hard struggle and suffering, they neared the summit. Then the snow started. Snow was not alien to the Wk-Rwn but this was not ordinary snow. The blizzards that assaulted them were the furry of the mountain, of Ka, at these insolent mortals who dared to enter his lands and then desecrated his halls with their unworthy bodies of flesh and blood. The Wk-Rwn fell in their hundreds but nothing would deter them. Rock shattered beneath their feet, blizzards froze their blood, falls of rock and ice crushed their weak bodies but they were unstoppable.

Eventually ten men and ten women battled their way to the top, to the Met-Ka and they beheld the murderous, raging spirit of the mountain, who had tried so hard to stop them. The women fell to their knees in awe of him but the arrogant men would not. They taunted the great spirit for they believed they had broken and defeated him on the slopes. Ka, who had been amazed by these hardy mortals, was now only angered once more. He took the men in this mighty arms and threw them from the summit. Their eternal fall was so great and the impact was so powerful mighty holes were torn into the flanks of the mountain. It is in these hollows that the tribes now hold their meets and councils. The women he took as his own and from the union the Ka-Rwn were born. We are not entirely flesh and blood and we are bonded to the mountains. Our men are both blessed and cursed to be as mighty and brave as the men who met Ka but also as impetuous and, at times, foolish. Our women are strong, brave and wise like those who met Ka and bore his children. These are our roots, young ones, but our tale does not end here. There are many stories of great battles and heroes still to be told. They are for another night.

The Krakeii are a hardy group of fishermen and hunters. They see their lifestyle as difficult but rewarding, and as a rule do not leave their villages or really ever change their professions or even their hobbies. Their simplicity has led to a laid-back governmental system that consists of an almost impotent chief. Most would look at them with little interest, but their farming, fishing, and trapping skills are almost unrivaled.
EDIT: I forgot to put myself on the map. I'm looking at that big lake in the right hemisphere that is nestled in the mountains.
