Even though DaftNESIV has encountered some difficulties, I would like to continue with this, if it is pleasing to others.
And I meant to say, thanks to Cull for explaining things to Domination3000.
PHASE 3
At first there is great disturbance amongst the inner planetoids, with many moving onwards.
Spryllino-Vert eventually loses its grip on its moon DB3k, which then swings out into space and unluckily intersects the orbital path of Hunter at high speed. This is a very violent collision that strips Hunter of its outer crust, leaving a large ball of near-pure molten metal, with its spin axis toppled so far sideways that the poles now almost face into the sun (Hunter3k contains: Hunter 80%, Bill3000 10%, Domination3000 10%).
Spryllino-Vert gathers up some of the material from this crash and is generally well placed to grow at this time. It is now the largest of the inner objects, with a growing atmosphere of heavy gases, and bubbling pools of water carried from comets. But its orbit is now a little too close to Hunter's for comfort.
Haseri has a close encounter with Spryllino-Vert, but manages to settle into a new orbit further out. It grows at a slower pace.
Citizen1 has a violent impact and almost devours Daftpanzer whole, but some ejecta escapes into orbit and reforms as a small irregular moonlet. Citizen1 is now only narrowly smaller than Spryllino-Vert and is also growing an atmosphere.
The inner system is left looking rather more stable, with what might be called true planets. But at the edge, Farow struggles to grow, as material is monopolised by the luckier objects nearby. Farow's orbit is now being destabilised.
Merciary's first moon, Omega, is on the brink of escaping into space when it has a near-miss with an incoming object, Goodgame. Goodgame then ploughs into Merciary and is absorbed with ease (MerciaryGG contains: Merciary 90%, Goodgame 10%), while Omega finally escapes out into deep space. Omega's eccentric orbit now averages around 6AU from the sun and crosses many paths as it does so.
Meanwhile, MerciaryGG crosses a threshold and begins to grow exponentially as it attracts more and more gasses. New moons begin to form out of the swirl of materials in orbit. A giant core of compressed ice is surrounded by liquid water, hot steam and noxious gasses. But friction slows the orbit and it begins falling ever so gradually inwards to the sun, and away from the main bands of raw material.
Cull has a slower start than Merciary, but finds itself with larger bands of gas to draw upon. At present it is only a little behind Merciary in terms of mass, though it has a greater proportion of gasses and hydrocarbons than water. Luckymoose is captured as a moon, and gets coated with some of the hydrocarbons and water spiralling into Cull, forming some sheltered environments of water, organic chemicals and geothermal heating.
The objects Terrans and TF have a comparatively-gentle merger as they grow larger and larger, forming a large shiny proto-planet of almost pure ice. The combined object now seems to have grown about as large as it can, being so close to Cull and with its orbit in danger.
TerransTF was spared collision with Heraclihead, as it accidentally ran into Ostuj first. The result is Herahetsuj, an object similar to TerransTF, but with more strange organic compounds (Herahetsuj contains: Justo 33%, Heraclius 33%, Conehead 33%).
Kal spirals back in from the edge of the system and manages to gobble up a load of material as it does so, almost reaching the same threshold as Cull and Merciary. Kal is still mostly ice and rock, now surrounded by steam and lighter gasses such as hydrogen and helium.
Bestage has a near-miss with Kal and settles into an orbit further out.
These movements spur the formation of new icy objects: North, Lightfang and Aikokidon.
