Indeed, raw Navy recruits shoot better with their M-1s the first time they lay hands on them than the Stormtroopers. The only thing worse than their shooting is their squad tactics.

After seeing episode II, Clone troopers look like better shots and more competent than Stormtroopers from episodes IV - VI. Personally I think the empire didn’t allow the clones to retire so you’re seeing 50 – 60 year old clones going into combat without their arthritis medication.

It's spelled "would". Anyway, Vader would win, hands down. He arguably the strongest Force-User since Exar Kun, even not trained to his full potential he was nearly as strong as the Emperor. Luke is the only other Jedi who would even come close, Maul would be, to borrow a phrase, "bantha poodoo".

Vader is more powerful in the force - palpatine sees in young anakin that he will become powerful 'some day'. Maul's one job was to announce the presence of the sith and kill qui gon, so the superior teacher wouldnt have the chance to teach anakin.

Darth maul wasn't being cocky, he was filled with hate for his enemy and he believed hed already won as obi wan's lightsabver had just been melted. If he had been cocky, he would have walked away. He sent sparks to try and make obi wan fall.

Darth vader and maul do slug it out, on some planet i cant remember, because palpatine wants to know who is the better of the two so he clones maul.
