There's no need for an amendment process for any of those decisions as they are directly reflected in the constitution at one spot or another. I don't see why anybody would waste time arguing the point.

The ruling in today's case is just as relevant to the constitution as the rulings I mentioned were relevant to the constitution at the time of their inception. I am confident that, in time, the Supreme Court's view of equality between sexual orientations will be achieve the same status as their views on racial and sexual equality.

Because trying to force the issue onto the majority tends to only piss people off as opposed to making them sympathetic to your cause. And the more people get pissed off, the less they are willing to even listen to you about it.

And I point out that far more people were in favor of ending slavery, and racial segregation than are in favor of gay marriage, and it still took a civil war and decades upon decades to make a difference on those fronts. And that was for issues that were assuredly grim, serious, and needed to be changed in our country. In comparison, people look at the gay marriage issue and go /meh.

Bottom line, gays have never had it as bad as blacks did (or do) in this country. Hell, do you even realize that prop 8 might not have even passed without the black vote?

If it were only that simple, this wouldnt be a big issue. But its not that simple.

Slavery ended in the South, where I'm sure most people did not want slaves to get freedom.

And, oh yeah, they were killed, imprisoned, given hormone pills, and had to face a ton of attrociates. To avoid this, they had to lie about themselves their entire life. Do you have any idea what this does to a persons mental health?

And Black people didn't oppose Prop 8 any more than Crackers. I saw it on the Tyra Banks show, so it must be true.
