I don't know why there's a smiley there, as it implicates you as well.

There is a smiley there because Obama is in no way a conservative republican, and yet he doesnt approve of gay marriage anymore than I do. Which, if you didnt notice, vindicates and confirms my earlier comments about the opposition to gay marriage.

And no, I dont think Obama is a homophobe. I dont think most reasonable people would either.

Not sure why this is a surprise. This was what he put out during his campaign as well. As I have said several times now, this is more than just a conservative GOP issue...but no one seems to want to listen to that.

Happily, no one made this assertion. It was only brought up to refute the 'if you were gay would you be against gay marriage' question.

You keep going on about it like it's somehow relevant what he thinks.

Obama just doesn't have the guts to stand up to the fundies. There's very little incentive for the democrats to help gays. They know the liberals are on their side because there's no viable 3rd party. They're trying to get middle-ground people on their side. People who are socially conservative but against the wars and upset about the economy. The worst that could happen is if liberal people just don't go to the polls. People were too caught up in Obamarama and the whole idea of having a black president which caused him to be worshipped by liberals. The fact is, he's not so liberal. He's done very little that he promised.

obama cant be a homophobe because he's with the democrat party?
doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me.

What's the democrat party? I've never heard of that.

I would say Obama is engaging in some fence sitting. I don't think we know where he really stands on this issue, its all political posturing. He had to say he was against equal marriage to win the election but if he were against it as thoroughly as suggested he wouldn't have equivocated on it this week. I wish he would do the right thing and openly support full gay rights but I'm not holding my breath. Barack Obama is a better politician than most, but he's still a politician.

yeah, the sad thing isn't that he's acting as a politician, it's seeing that you have to publicly say you are against providing equal rights to a part of the population otherwise a huge percentage of the electorate will shun you. in the superpower nation that keeps the world in check, a nation that is supposed to be first world, democratic and developed. very sad.

look, obama fans, i have no idea whether obama is a homophobe or not.

i was just saying that him being member of teh democrats doesnt in any way exclude the possibility of him being a homophobe.
such a claim is rather nonsensical.

Yeah, I tend to believe what the most powerful man in the world thinks is relevant, as do most of the rest of us breathing air. I may not agree with him on a lot, but I certainly think what he says and thinks precisely relevant.

Obama just doesn't have the guts to stand up to the fundies.

Heh, cant wait till 2012.

Well, maybe the dems need a gay version of the Tea Party to set them aright. Any suggestions?

2012!!!!!

Obama's not a homophobe. I've seen him talk before at Equal Rights conventions. He's not.

So we have established that one can be against gay marriage and not be a homophobe. Thanks!

Thats good since no one claimed that.

yeah, but one cant claim that gays are gay because they were sexually abused in their childhood and not be a homophobe, so there you go.

Except no one claimed that the findings were in any way conclusive either. Or did you miss that very important point?

So, you accuse the scientist of who did the study published there in pubmed as being a homophobe for studying the possible correlation there?

Seriously?

Did you even look at the results of the study to see if there were some pertinent findings? Or are you simply going to dismiss them because you dont like the sound of it being a possibility?

And it was very clear that it was mentioned that the results are not definitive of a major cause per se, but that there could be a causal relationship considering the percentages involved in a study of almost 1000 people.

Do you also accuse entities like the CDC or other national health organization as being homophobic because they study things like HIV/AIDs in the gay community, demographic rates of STD, rates of unsafe sexual behavior, etc. and may simply publish factual data that you dont like?

all of the above.

It's the gays who are spreading aids! Keep reviving those lies.
