Deity Isolation Workshop (Stan/Norm/Fractal/NH/NE)

Technically it has more than one if you count the silk.. are you going to take the bait? ;)

Yay, the real fun can start now. If you don't feel like writing up don't forget to take a bunch of saves, I always open them. And I'm sure we'll end up playing this very differently

Okay sure, should have thought about it earlier :)
Adding 2 saves, but first is t52 already.

Start play
Spoiler :
used 1 pop whips, first for worker at size 2 (bw teched first) after workboat.
Then settler again 1 pop (no sheep mine, chops instead cos i wanted pasture later).
Then another worker 1 pop whipped, and now a settler..poor Kyoto :)

@Fippy I'll catch up and read your spoiler later, will try to play to t100 tonight

And lakes! Which can even be used with a lighthouse!

Standards dropping. :nono:
I apologize for that. I didn't realize that lighthoused lakes were so cheesy. But everyone knows that the real hard starts, the infamous double-gold-double-corn ones, are usually unwinnable :mischief:

I'm at T42 right now. Haven't explored the whole island yet, but for now it looks like a no-Monarchy map.
Spoiler :

Mostly because few river tiles and very low health cap (only +2 from res ). Looks like I can settle one city 1SW of the grass sheep and another one on a river silk and stay at 4 cities for a while. Also depends on the western part of the island, but from the sneak peek I've had in WB when choosing the map, there's probably not much.

A bit worried about infrastructure if I go this way, though. Also worried about beaker rate, but bpt won't be great with Monarchy either..

Played to T100, will write-up tomorrow (2 am here).. appears that we indeed played quite differently ;)

A bit lazy to write-up so I'll just say the basic stuff. Comparing saves is much more interesting.
Spoiler to Optics (300 AD) :

  • Went Mining-BW-Hunt-AH-Pottery-Writing-MC-Sailing-IW-Machinery-Compass-Optics
  • 10T workboat - grow for 3T - 10T worker
  • Mined the Sheep, grew to size 3 while building 2 warriors (ugly timing), chopped Settler for the Copper spot
  • Second city went worker-Axeman (didn't have AH yet when settled, and no 3F tile to work). After the first settler, Kyoto built another worker (the copper city is a worker-turn-hungry one)
  • Built a second settler at size 3 then chopped a granary in Kyoto and whipped the third settler 4-2, then whipped a library 4-2 (chopped all the BFC forests)
  • Barbs weren't a big issue, was a bit lucky to have mostly warriors early on, allowed to delay the Axe a little. Had to pillage my Copper to build one more warrior later on lol
  • City plan :
OAxSfyC.jpg

Worked as many cottages as possible. Built one trireme before Optics as Kyoto is my only coastal city, will have to wait 2T to get moving with Caravels. Will settle 3 more cities ASAP. Also have to check out the island to the west, looks like there is a barb city there.

Infrastructure and beaker rate are both dreadful, I really hope I can backfill a lot of techs with Optics+Astro and get in a good trading position, otherwise the game is pretty hopeless. Kinda reminds me of my position @Optics in the Boudica game, but in worse (the map is a bit harder aswell )

@Fippy how's your game going? Have Tanks already? :p

Does anyone know if..

You're trading techs with Mansa but haven't met anyone else. Sitting Bull has met Mansa but not you. When you meet Sitting Bull, do the techs you got from Mansa count towards your WFYABTA with SB?

:)

Basically, I want to know if I should trade for stuff like Myst/Agri/Masonry with the first AI I meet, assuming that he/she has a high WFYABTA limit, that I have met only him on this turn and that my bpt suckz

Thanks.

On a related note, can't you get -diplo with civs you haven't met for trading with their worst enemy?
I'm not sure. One things I know for sure, though, is this:

You meet Gandhi on T140. You gift him 10 gold to get +4 diplo relations. Later in the same turn you meet Shaka, and Gandhi is his WE. Here Shaka will give you -4 "you have traded with our worst ennemies". Not sure if you get the penalty if you meet him a few turns after.

lol sorry, mixed up AH with Archery..teching hunting confused me, what was that about ~~
Are you sure it's not wheel?

Mining sheep is an interesting point, i think you can save some time with not doing that and chopping for settler instead (+ 1 pop whip). Cos pasture is better later.

Oh i see, i should really wake up before posting stuff.
Can i delete all that :)

Toku starts with Fishing and The Wheel. So I had to tech Hunting to get to AH. Agriculture would have been better now that I think of it. I didn't want to delay Pottery, that's why I teched hunting, but I forgot that Agriculture gave a boost on Pottery... Kinda dumb

Edit - actually it did also get me earlier to AH, so it was probably worth it. Didn't build any farms (could have used up some extra worker turns by building farms for later)
