Barbs are a big thing of iso play imho, so turning them off makes an entierly different game...

Have also glanced over the island and I think it looks pretty sweet.

Could be an option! Org does give you a slight edge toward that goal.
But there are no offshore islands visible from the starting screenshot.
And GLH is somewhat antagonistic to a plan of spawning 3 GSci, making academy with one and using two to bulb astronomy.
With GMerchant points ticking in the capital, either 3 other cities have to be fast, and capital just working cottages and chilling... Or you handle it some other way.. But forgoing academy in a capital of this calibre doesn't look fun imho.

@BornInCantaloup Self teching monarchy is standard practice in iso-plays too though!
It's a nice sweet map, where no evil ragnar will disturb the proper dotmap!
