Deity Isolation Workshop (Stan/Norm/Fractal/NH/NE)

Worker question :)
Spoiler :
probably not, granary whip first is usually better. (fast) expansion matters much less in Iso, quality of cities does thou and you easily will have that covered with Rep and a city like Tokyo and gold city also nice.

Getting Toyko asap is ofc always "right" and imo takes priority over all other builds or circumstances, cos it's growing right away with no worker urgently needed. Those are the best cities early. So my first line would only be regarding a worker whip, not settler (but only for Tokyo)

Didn't have much time to play this week, lot of RL stuff (good results at exams among other things :D), have a lot of games to catch up on (my isolation practice game, the Stalin game you posted a while ago, the current NC game and of course the Toku iso), will probably play a little tomorrow and this weekend, will have much more time to play next week ^^

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, the NC Elizabeth game that was recently posted is. . .
Spoiler :
Semi-isolated. I know it's not quite as challenging as what you have going here, but there is a twist. . .
Spoiler :
The AI you are semi-isolated with is a monster and has all sorts of good land to expand into.

Wouldn't mind seeing some of y'all try it out :mischief:

I've played only 11 turns (Toku), and am already unsure what to tech next
Spoiler :
Moved warrior NW, and decided to chance on settling NW since I knew the coast, and couldn't see any seafood (which might otherwise be ruined). Turns out I 'lost' one green riverside tile, but it's still a fine cottage spot, and got Stone in BFC :)

Great to see resource nearby. There is also silver up in the tundra. Looks much better than feared. Should probably park the warrior somewhere... :|

Normally I'd tech AH next without thinking, always improving food first. However, the timing won't be great (14 turns currently), so maybe Pottery or Mining instead? Pottery is actually a little tempting, and then get cottages on those two naked green riversides. But that won't be grand for settlers or workers, so maybe Mining is better? Or indeed AH as I would normally do. Doesn't look like commerce will be a huge issue on this map, with double gold plus silver already revealed, even a few floodplains for extra food. With Stone in BFC it might be tempting to go for an early wonder if possible. Stonehenge would be good for barb defence and 'free' border pops. But it tends to go very early on Deity, and it might well be the wrong priority.

Before I play on and do something stupid and need to reload, what would you advice? If anybody has started playing that is, and willing to see the spoilers :p

Mind posting the map? I'd love to play through it, because I'm absolutely insane and want to try deity Toku iso after having won only one emperor game.

There are also links to all games in the first post of this thread.

So in other news, can AI actually gift units to each other? Because I've never seen such a thing... (Pedro don't open the spoiler, it's from your practice game )

Spoiler :

Egyptian Bowman ??? ... and he has warriors running around. What the hell is going on there? It's Deity.

@Rusten, would you skip CoL and CS here in favor of Vassalage and a straight Cannon beeline then? Because my beaker rate kind of sucks. But that's the correct meta for an AGG leader, hm? Vassalage being underrated and all that.

Umm no way i would skip Bur there lol, your Cap is much too nice for that and also has an Academy.
Looks like you really played well :)

Just not sure how to best get there at first glance, Mansa still gives full value for Optics so a trade for CS after some beakers put in seems possible soon unless you are unlucky and he starts teching it. But he's probably on DR as usual ~~

Theocracy looks like a better option for 5xp, relis can start spreading after Astro and with big cities it's not too difficult anymore getting the Reli into most other cities. I see no reason why i would pick Vass here with Bur being really valuable, while the Reli Civic not really has useful other options.

The Bowman and the fact that all Egyptian cities have Babylonian names mean that Babylon gave independence to Egypt. This should be visible in the diplomacy screen, too.

I don't understand, I just installed BUG 4.4 and can start a game with the mod loaded, but if I try to load the Toku save it tells me the game must restart with Mod "None" loaded. What am I missing here?

Not sure, but I think I'm running the BUG mod in Custom Assets. Not as loaded mod. For example I had to load BUFFY externally (re-start the game with the mod loaded) to open your Freddy save, think that's different. Don't know how to fix the problem though. I thought it would work smoothly. Hope someone else knows more about that.

I'll try reinstalling BUG in custom assets.

Edit: Still couldn't get it to work, even after deleting the old BUG install and the renamed custom assets folder. Hmmm. . . Hopefully someone can help. I can still play the map, just unmodded, which is annoying.

I'm running BUG in CustomAssets too, and the Toku game (and the others in here) work fine with that setup. Exactly where have you installed it? On my end, I've put it in .../My Games/Beyond the Sword/CustomAssets. The explanation in the BUG installer is fairly thorough from what I recall.

When I installed I chose to rename the custom assets folder per the installers recommendation. The result is that I get a custom assets folder, a "renamed" custom assets folder that is empty, a BUG mod folder, and another BUG folder in the python folder in custom assets. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mod several times, but no luck.

That sounds a bit weird. Maybe try to delete that whole lot and start over. Unless that causes your computer to fry and toss itself out the window :scared:

If it helps, this is what it looks like on my end. The structure is basically the same as on Windows (this is Linux), just imagine this is in the "My Documents" folder instead of "/home/pangaea".

@Fippy Thanks for advice, I went with Bur+Theo. Think that works better. But assuming you can't get a religion (or too dangerous to switch), what is more important? Bur or Vassalage (CR2 cannons~). Or asking differently... when would you use Vassalage in iso?

Mansa did exactly what you expected :crazyeye:

Spoiler :

And yup, somehow Hammurabi liberated a colony for some stupid reason.

I also took your advice for the Toku game, posting a little update in a second... will focus on that game, because it's the one we really play right now :)

Spoiler :

Replayed as Fippy suggested and settled double food for my 3rd city. Pyramids came 1520 BC and I tried to catch up with expansion after that.

I reloaded the gems pop, because it ruined my Pyramids date.... no, just too cheesy.

Then not much happened, I managed expansion, got headaches trying to optimize Granary completion everywhere... beelined CoL. Now chopping my remaining forests into Chicken Pizza for failgold.

I want to stay on 6 cities because of maintenance. But is it worth it to get the silver here? Useless city, but +1 happy. Wanted to settle it when I hit Optics (chop a caravel here), but I think it would only delay me right now?

Opinions?

Oh and I so rarely build Pyramids that I have no idea how to use them... basically grow to happy cap and then run specialists, right? But capital should probably still grow cottages. Everywhere else scientists > cottages?

Oh and should I run merchants to keep my slider at 100% for longer? Because I have libraries... aaa no idea.
