it will provide no benefit , except short term effects like delaying of extra profit making measures , will contribute nothing to the American Left , harden MAGA attitude that elites and welfare queens are against Mankind and constitutes strike one against CFC . Plus , it is actually creates a basis for attacking random CEOs for random business decisions by copycats .

basically nothing of concern to people around .

They're not afraid of eating tide pods, but they're too scared to do a little mass action and maybe charge a few machine gun nests to overthrow the bourgeois.

Both are lethal, but one of these lethal things leads to more clout in the age of social media grandstanding. Hence tide pod consumption over liberation.

Sounds like you're answering a lot of your own questions, then! What's the revolt risk in New York on this turn, anyway?

I’ve heard this term flying around describing Mangione that leaves me scratching my head, what in the world is a “tech bro”?

"bro" is more of a pejorative here. the "tech" kind I'm guessing are those who go for trans-humanism and that sort-of thing. not really an area that interest me, though.
..

welp, they charged Luigi Mangoine with 2nd-degree murder.
apparently he was shouting something at reporters when police brought him into Blair Co. (PA) courthouse for extradition.

"pejorative", "trans-humanism", "Elon Mush types" ... Jesus, you guys.

Tech bro is simply someone tech savvy.

Anyway, I read the suspect's twitter feed. Intelligent. Troubled. Passionate. Smart to figure out many angles, but not smart enough to change his own life. Exactly the type I would expect to take up arms in the end when the steam hits the whistle.

Wait, 2nd? They're not gonna give him the chair? Are they that scared of martyring him?
Under New York State law: Second-degree murder is punishable by 15 years-to-life and thus must serve at least 15 years in prison before being eligible for parole or life-without-parole if the victim was under 14.

Plus he has to go through a trial case in court. Its up to the judge and jury to decide when Luigi’s case is held.

Wouldn't want to deprive him of his free health care for life in jail.

then I'm probably just too old. "bro" like "dude" or "kid" when not addressing an actual friend doesn't sound like anything nice.

More info on the legal stuff from LegalEagle.

As a left-of-center liberal who is all for universal healthcare and improving our capitalist system, I am utterly disgusted by the hero worship this Luigi loser has gotten by people on both sides of the political aisle, but in particular on the left and even among people I consider friends.

Taking a life outside of wartime or civil conflict requires justification. Self preservation or the prevention of a greater act of IMMINENT violence against one's self or those around them who they wish to protect.

The killing of Brian Thompson does not qualify under any of those circumstances.

Regardless of what you think he did or your personal opinions of his job or how healthcare works in this country, none of that justifies his cold-blooded murder.

My vociferous denunciation of this craven act of violence is not an endorsement of Thompson's profession nor the way healthcare works in this country, but the fact is that by every legal standard under American law (or any half-way civilized nation) nothing justified the extinguishing of this man's life. Your personal opinions, no matter how negative they are of Thompson or his profession do not outweigh the necessary legal justification for killing another human being.

If you don't like the healthcare system organize and vote to change the system. That's how a democratic society works, not petty revenge fantasies.

Lemme just say to any and all who are in these comments:

  • If you're a liberal, a centrist, or a moderate and you take glee in the killing of another person without justification then you are NO liberal, no moderate, nor a centrist. You're an ideologically confused ignoramus who doesn't even understand what you stand for at best and an easily plied automaton that uncritically follows the trends on social media at worst.
  • If you're a right winger then chances are you're okay with this because despite all your "Pro-Life" bluster you've collectively been fantasizing about acts of violence like this for decades now as you live vicariously through the acts of violence like Loser Luigi and other stochastic terrorists; there's no point in saying anything to you because it's becoming clear Luigi was radicalized by the very same toxic garbage that allows you to justify violence against anyone who represents an obstacle to your ideology.
  • If you're someone who has advocated for gun regulation because of gun violence but celebrate the death of Brian Thompson then you are a disgrace and loathsome hypocrite. The depths of hell are too good for the likes of you,

As for some of the leftists in this thread, particular the guy above who keeps talking like Karl Marx at the Paris Commune and spouting nonsense about "oppression" and "bourgeoisie," you seem to lack the awareness to understand that Loseruigi is not one of you. Guys like that spit on you. His internet history is open for all to see and it's obvious he's been radicalized by right wing tech bro talking points like anti "woke / DEI" garbage.

Also please stop. Your spouting Marxist ideology. It only underscores what a useless and outdated ideology it is. The only thing Marx ever did right was to bring attention to historical class conflict, but as a political theorist and economist he was an abject failure.

You talk about Thompson as "bourgeoisie" - wake up Bro, it's not France 1871 anymore - We are all bourgeoisie. By contemporary standards even the lowest earning Americans live better and have better access to social services than the proletariat of Marx's day. Most Americans today have smartphones and consoles and other material possesions.

You, yourself, are hammering away on your keyboard on a desktop or laptop presumably. I bet you dollars to donuts you're probably using an iPhone too and typing that nonsense while drinking a 6 dollar latte in Starbucks.

Todays lower economic class may not live cushy middle/upper class lives but they are not about to rise up against the system that keeps them placated.

The Revolution is over. It is done. It is dead. It died with Marxism. Those of you who continue to practice this dead religion are deluding yourselves. It is an antiquated political ideology that was designed for 19th century industrial life and no political theorist has successfully updated it for 21st century life. Stop using this senseless murder to further your failed political 19th century ideology.

In conclusion: whatever Brian Thompson did in life, no matter how flawed he was, or how greedy he was - no matter how much the internet tries to ex post facto justify his murder - he was still a human being with inalienable rights that he was deprived of when he was shot in the back by a coward. Injustice is injustice regardless of who it is committed against or our feelings for them.Thompson's death won't change anything save for ensuring future CEOs have better security. Those who continue to justify this murder need to grow up.

Communism is dead/idiotic the causes of its appeal eg wealth inequality are not.

In a nation with a poor health system and an unhealthy obsession with guns and fame.

Literally the "we should improve society" meme...

Imagine saying "we must vote within the system to change it" while nominally advocating for things that the system will never accept changes to. It's like a kind of card-carrying "look how sensibly progressive I am" that requires no actual effort to maintain.

It's the kind of the stereotype conservatives normally call out for being performative, but they'll fall over themselves to love it here because a) it's targeting those further left and b) is therefore no threat to the status quo.

And some will still say liberals are leftists. Heh.

Depends on the country you're in.

Here it's better than USA for example but out progressives are only 10-15%.

Labour if they count brings it up to 35% maybe 40% locked in.

Your view points a social club at the local university.

Keep saying there's not enough of them.

Outside "the west" it's even worse.
