Diplomacy

FWIW, I'm in favour of England getting the suggested moves. It's only fair for the game, and I doubt it's a mistake that is likely to recur on Lord Iggy's part. I'm sure SiPi, Bowsling and choxorn would prefer if they didn't have an England to contend with, but in the interests of keeping the game fair, those moves sound fair enough to me.

Fair, but hilariously pro-French. :p

I don't mind England getting those moves, I doubt he will make the same mistake again.

The sixth seems a bit early for a deadline... thats only 3 days for this turnset.

To be fair, this post: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=10017254&postcount=11
which everyone confirmed as having read and agreed to specified a 3 day turn around for each spring/autumn and 24 hours for each winter. If this is too fast I don't object to making it longer. I only wanted to keep the game moving/fresh to maintain interest.

Does everyone else feel this is too fast? What would you suggest, 4 days? 5 days? A week per turn? Feel free to speak up with your preference and we will try to find a compromise!

Maybe try 4 days for this turn (that gives enough time for a bit of back and forth, with timezones), and see how it goes?

Another quick note so we don't find ourselves in this situation again, there is nothing wrong with sending in multiple sets of orders and I will always use the most recent set sent. This means you can send me a tentative set of orders at any time which will avoid the possibility of seeing all your units hold. Based on your communications with the other players you can then send me an updated set of orders if you've changed your mind about some or all of your orders.

Yes, I will only read the most recent set of rules you send me. Otherwise, it would give me insight into diplomatic negotiations with other powers which no one else has access to and that would give me an advantage that shouldn't exist.

A quick note on press:

Triskelli has agreed to handle anonymous press for the game (if there is to be any written). I contacted him as I came to the realization that anonymous press submitted to me wont be truly anonymous which would be an unfair advantage for me. Authored press can still be sent my way (though I don't imagine Triskelli would have an issue posting that either, you can realistically post it yourself as well since it's authored anyway :P).

Okay, I'm going to go ahead and allow Triskelli's suggested English moves in an attempt to keep the game interesting and competitive in the North West. If anyone has a serious issue with this, do feel free to express it. I wanted to wait for everyone's opinion but everyone needs to know where England's armies and fleets are situated in order to continue negotiating with them. I've updated the Spring Adjudication, please take a look to see where things now stand.

Additionally I will extend the deadline based on this and the fact we need time to decide how long we want each turn to last. The next set of orders is due January 8 @ 8:00 EST.

Please post your opinion on how much time you want to spend on each turn and we will find a compromise somewhere in the middle.

Just confirming that Matthew and I discussed this, glad to whip up news articles as I get press :D

ALL THE KING'S HORSES!!!
Travesty in England as war embroils the Continent! Due to issues of scheduling and the recent adoption of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), the proud British Fleet has remained in harbor as all other nations mobilize for the impending conflict. First Lord of the Admiralty Iggy could not be reached for comment, but the Triple Tribune has received word that the fleets are being hastily prepared for deployment this summer. (Cont. pg. 4)

If anyone wishes to send private or public anonymous press, or just wants some fancy dressing to any of your own declarations, just send me a PM with the message to be sent in quotations (This will be unaltered), and who it is to be sent to in the subject title.

For those of you unsure, anonymous press or "grey" press is used to communicate to someone without giving your actual name. This is benificial for anyone trying to get ideas across without being pinned as a fearmonger or targeted as detrimental to another player. Basically, Grey press is a written excuse to be even more vitrolic than you would be normally :mischief: Or at least I imagine that's how it should be used (I've only ever played on the webdiplomacy sites): What are your experiences with it, Dachs?

For some reason, I thought it was a week per turn, but in hindsight, I think I prefer this anyway... just used to realllly slow games thanks to PBEM civ4

Gray press is usually good for flaming. Here, not so much, because of site rules. Since I've got a lot more experience in the face-to-face game, I haven't encountered it all that much.

I'd say 4 days is probably good.

RUSSIAN ROULETTE
The world stands in confusion over the perplexing actions of the Russians. Their age old rival Turkey has sailed unopposed into the Black Sea, while the removal of the vangaurd in Warsaw has encouraged Austria to occupy the border territories in Galicia. General Choxorn claims communication problems amongst other world powers has contributed to this current disadvantage in the great war, but rival nations point to the General's inexperience in command as the major issue. (Cont. pg. 2)

Just a quick reminder that orders are due tomorrow by 8 PM EST (UTC -5)! Don't forget :)

I'm going to be away from the 10th to the 14th, so would it be possible to get the next round extended to the 15th or maybe even the 16th?

Sigh, so England and Germany both NMRed this turn. Come on guys, it's so easy to submit at the very least a tentative set of moves in case you can't get orders in on time. Regardless, Lord Iggy is out, you've NMRed twice now. The game quality is reduced every time this happens.

So we need two things to happen now:

1) We need to find a replacement for Lord Iggy
2) We have to decide if we want to continue with this game or not. I don't care one way or the other, but having three NMRs in the first two turns is absolutely awful. The first year is particularly important as the neutral SCs are up for grabs.

Here is the adjudication:
