Disallow YouTube Autoplay

It is apparently possible to embed a youtube video along with an "autoplay=true" or some-such parameter, causing the video to automatically play when the page is loaded.

This is extremely obnoxious and annoying most of the time. Therefore, I suggest that some sort of automatic filter be set into the forum to prevent autoplays (or failing that, use moderation, but then it'd be more work).

Never knew that, but yeah. There should be a way to disable that on embedded videos.

TESTING:

1>Link to video.

EDIT: Can't get it to work. Maybe it's picking up your YouTube settings -- try clearing your cache and looking at the page again.

P.S. can you link to an example please? See if the rest of us experience the same thing?

EDIT2: I can now get it to work -- admins, you need to filter the HTML code for "=" too, for completeness.

Ahh, okay. Well the admins have filtered &autoplay=1 to produce smileys! But they also need to filter "&autoplay& # 6 1 ; 1" (without spaces), since the "& # 6 1 ;" part gets translated into an "=". Obviously you'd have to deliberately want to annoy people in order to do that... but for completeness' sake, the admins should probably filter that too ;)

Mise's link autoplays for me.

I really want one of those!

I haven't seen people doing this elsewhere, but if they are doing so, it should be worthy of an infraction.

...Or disable youtube videos completely. :ack:

filter it the same way you do with swearing.. just turn the line of code into a smiley?

I fixed it.... :badcomp:

The Flashblock add-on does the job admirably as well :)

Technically, that's intentionally bypassing the autofilter, and infractable. :smug:

...but thanks for that. I'll keep looking for a more elegant solution.

Thanks mods! And thanks Defiant for bringing it to their attention!
