DisNES II "A Twist of Fate"

Hrm, indeed. A Velazquez look-alike would be more probable, but if the recent renaissance was gothic, than I think Baroque would be, as you said, too far off. The jump of the reality of forms from Gothic to Baroque would be too great. There would need to be something in the middle, and that would, IMHO, probably end up looking like Northern-Renaissance art.

Well it will not be the same man (in my opinion the alternations of history will play havoc with genetics and environment ;)), but you can make up a painter with the same name if you want. Comments noted das.

The divisions thing...well it was never set in stone how large a division was eh ;). Also the military upkeep thing should keep army and navy sizes down.

OOC: Kal'thzar and silver2039 will be really pissed off when they see this. ;) Ah well, its as curious to see where Symphony will lead Russia as it is with alex.

Indeed, though Kal could always take T'ho - its quite like the other side of the ITNES Olmecs...

@Das is Francsois still alive and if so how old is he? Also is France very liberal? And does the nobility have much power?

So I noticed. ;)

Silver, do read the althist. But Francois died in battle a few decades ago; there is no liberalism as such before the 19th century, or at the very least the 18th one - France is culturally quite libertine and anti-clerical these days, but the monarchy is absolute and mostly supported as such, though the bourgoise wouldn't mind getting more power and autonomy as is usual; the nobility retains as much power as the king permints them, but France, as said, is an absolute monarchy, not a feudal one. One must also note that the old landed nobility is being slowly displaced by the new, meritocratically-promoted one (chiefly the distinguished military commanders).

@dis, are the Acolhuans as bad off as the Aztecs were in OTL or does it just seem that way? :p

Re-read the althist, Azale. And also, clarify in what way do you think them to be bad - morally or economically?

A little bit of both, but thier not the Aztecs so that means the human sacrifices are not commonly practiced correct?

I'm going to re-read the western hemisphere part of the althistory.

Human sacrifices have been abolished, alas - instead of these elaborate works of art, the Acolhuans defile the land with messy slaughter of all that do not accept their faith. They do build nice ossuaries, though... ;)

ahh, thanks das. I think I like the fanatacism of the people, maybe I DO have a shot if Europeans get a little trigger happy. Human waves can be very effective...btw, any particular name to this religion?

From: High Priest Nezahualcoatl of the Acolhuan Empire
To: Tarascan Michoacan

We are the inheritors of the Empire, the torch-bearers of the great faith. Submit to the Acolhuan gods or be smited by our armies!

btw, any particular name to this religion?

Monotheism ("Belief in the One" - my Nahuatl, alas, isn't good enough to say how they would call it, so just term it Acolhuan Monotheism).

Btw, you indeed do have a shot. The present theocratic empire appeared after civil wars that followed the smallpox epidemic... which means that those who have survived all that are comparatively immune. As are their descendants...

To: Iberia
From: Songhay

We propose a 4 year NAP as well as our asking that you halt your African expansion in the north.

The Iberians accept the four turn NAP, however, we will not halt our expansion in Northern Africa.

From: Songhay

If you will not halt your expansion then we wish for a guarantee of coastal land, so that we can help our country in well needed trade from the sea.

We can discuss claims to African land over more private channels.

OCC: I will make a map to dicuss claims to land.

Ah... how can we increase the training of say 10 divisions over say the increase of training for the entire army? Like in Russia's stats

das, are you the ottomans?

Yes, yes I am.

As in the most recent iteration of NES2VI rules, 1 EP only raises the training of 20 divisions by one level (or 10 divisions by 2 levels etc...). Thus it's quite possible to have a whole bunch of differently trained troops. Newly recruited troops start at 2 levels below your nations average training level.

dis when are orders going to be due?

Well I'd like a few more powers to be filled, but currently I'm shooting for midnight (GMT) on sunday, me then doing the update on monday.

hmmm, i am going away this weekend, i will probably be able to get in orders, but if i don't just npc me this turn
