If we capture the city with the AP, will it still allow votes? I've never tried this but if we aren't able to build AP before the mystery oracle civ (:mad:), taking it would probably still be a faster win than the conquest or domination that vanilla/warlords will probably (make that definitely ;) ) go for.

The AP works for the owner, not for the builder.... I really think that a AP win would put us far ahead of the rest, but we haven't met mystery oracle civ ... I bet that is Mansa in another continent....

About horses.... Bindamel, any sign of war chariots or of pastures of invisible animals? Knowing if Hatty has WC is fulcral...

Okay, that was painful, for lack of a better or censored word.

The first thing I did was concentrate our 4 EP/turn on Hatty, as we were close to seeing her research:

She upped back, and we never did get to see it, though. We did get demographics, and our power rating is 0.6 vs. her.

I took a screenshot of the copper hookup, but it's more interesting to note that there are four visible barbarian warriors on the screen, and a red circle pointing to a fifth. That is one more warrior than we had at that point. Oh, and there was a barbarian archer 1E of the red circle warrior, btw.

Now for the bad part: I lost two warriors defending at 79% odds each, and a spearman attacking at 99.1%

I sacrificed a worker to prevent an archer vs. warrior attack on St. Petes that could have lost us the city. I was able to whip an axe there on the following turn, when St. Petes hit 2 pop.

Hatty plopped a city north of St. Petes on my last turn.

Both cities are at happy limits; Moscow has 20 turns of whip anger; St. Petes 7. I hired two scientists to prevent growth in Moscow; it would give us a GS in 9 turns. The other option would be to replace the worker. St. Petes is finishing a spear, and then maybe could be set on a worker, while waiting for the whip anger to wear off.

Sorry for the crappy turns, I did all I could think of, including raising cash, so we could upgrade a warrior, if necessary. On the plus side, we do have four axes, both of our cities, and will have a spear in two turns.

Don't think you could have done any better, i would think that with all the barb activity there's no one to the south or west of us.

Ok, got it.... Will try to play tonight.

bad luck bout the barbs and the espionage thing.... But were delaying a lot our axe rush. I hope that we can still get it in time.....

I think its war. Taking out a settler deals a lot of damage to her, gives us a worker. As she's ReXing, she is probably not prepared as well. We kill the settler and then just use the units we have, to catch up what counter attack she might send. Not make to many incursions in her Territory, so she does not feel urged to whip to many units. In 4-5 turns when Hatty cooled of a bit, we make a Ceasefire (No treaty). She will come back to what she was doing before the war, and build Settlers for rexing again - the AI tends to do that. We continue Axe build up and strike again as soon as we are ready.
 
I have a tendency to get into long drawn out wars, where neither side gains much advantage, and peaceful AI runaway on techs. So long as we have a short term goal and stick to it, it should be fine.

We may want to consider taking advantage of some of the land west and south at some point though. That's a lot of barbarian spawning ground out there. I'm not sure when would be best though.
 
I think our only option is war, though it's painfully late for axes :sad:

Anyway, I go along Rafar plan - deal initial damage, cease fire, build up and DoW again. We can't restart like in an offline try :mischief:
 
kill the settler, deal as much damage as possible and then a ceasefire.

Had some luck and killed both WC with a axe and a spear.... When killed last defender noticed that Alexandria had 2 defenders and 1 pop ( so no whipped unpleasant suprises ) Moved the troops there and with a lot of luck ( 1 of the axes had really low chances to win ( see log ) ) captured alexandria with no losses.

Now, to turtle or not to turtle?... i'm not sure that pushing ahead is wise, and we have a nice grass FP spot to settle..... ;)

Just sense the pulse of Hatty military vein..... if you can get a city by cunning manouvering and unmatched strayegy :D or to pillage something important, go ahead and do it. If you sense that Hatty is archer turtling or preparing to strike back ( BTW we need more spears ) sue for peace. We already have a quite decent prize for little losses and like I said before, I think that the grass FP city would come nicely now ( and letting hatty to found a religion would be cool too ;) )

On the inherited turn, I moved some unmoved stacks.
Some troops got moving towards Memphis, defended by three archers on a plat land. I sensed an opportunity.

The first turn of my set was, well, very explicit:

I re-MM Moscow to work cottages while going for the settler. It drops the settler-time by 2 or 3 turns but does wonders in terms of research.

First C1 CR2 axe takes the archer at very little odds (28%). Two following axes are killed, yet managing to wound the ba$t@rd$ enough to make the spear complete a kill.

Still, we have 4 spears in St Peter. I'd suggest getting another one and taking 3 of them on a journey toward Hatty, cutting her WCs to pieces while going for the horse ressource. We have to get het on her knees and get this peace - it's getting cheesy and we need to develop ourself.

Construction in 1, then maybe a cat or two ?

Settler ready in 10, one worker gets the road done to the spot and has already farmed the FP.
