Do you feel smarter than the average Joe Public?
Do you feel smarter than the average CFCer?

Are we at CFC intellectuals?

We on CFC are intellectuals.

I tend to be an optimist so yes, the glass is half full...

The Delphic oracle said I was the wisest of all the Greeks. It is because I alone, of all the Greeks, know that I know nothing.
Socrates

What I lack in terms of intellect (and money) I make up with friendliness.

Spoiler :
I am VERY friendly

But, apart from me, the average CFCer is definitely smarter than the average person I meet in RL. Or so they seem. Some alarmingly so.

Every group thinks they are smarter than the average. I miss being called an artist.

I think we are if only for one reason. We read and discuss with other people to help ourselves get smarter, and I know plenty of people who do not care very much about improving or learning.

Smarter than the median, not smarter than the average. 1% of CFC has 99% of the brains.

I'm considering joining Occupy CFC.

Would you plan on sharing the intelligence fairly with everyone?

I'm less intelligent than most people on CFC but sure as hell is more intelligent than most people IRL. I'm less smart than most university students, but more smart than the average person. That means my opinion should go suck itself and let the actual smart guys do the talking while I write my poetry.

It's difficult to say. For one thing, I have no idea how intelligent people are in some of the subforums I never venture into (Civilization V, Computer Talk, etc). Even just limiting the discussion to Colosseum posters, all I can say is that I'm more informed on certain topics than most members but not so well informed on others.

Overall, I don't think there is any possible way to have a good grasp on the actual intelligence of most members. Some of the most intelligent people might not post much and when they do, maybe they don't post in a format which presents their intelligence very well. On the other side of the aisle, some of the least intelligent people might post all the time and are very good at doing research, debating or otherwise BSing, making them come off as smarter than they really are. Overall, on an internet forum, I think what's more important than intelligence is simply an ability to hold a rational discussion. This is a skill that is certainly easier if you are intelligent, but being smart is still not really a necessary perquisite.

Honestly, as an optimist, I tend to hope more people are more intelligent than me.
