Do you want to have and raise children at some point in your life?

On a related note, If you are such a believer and only have a girlfriend is it frowned upon if you adopt? Or is that allowed?

I would assume no - having a child is a huge commitment, why would you undergo it with someone if you are not also committing to spend the rest of your life with them?

Of course, whether it is allowed would vary, theoretically, by denomination, since there isn't some "Conservative Christian Church" out there that has authority over everyone. But the principle's the same.

I don't want children, (I'm 32 years old now) because :

1. Being a part of humanity feels like being in a burning boat. No future in terms of destruction of the environment and human rights (and social) aspects.
Big future for more and more nukes :nuke:.

2. Life = suffering. May it be disease or headache, slavery or just boredom. (and I don't see no perfect world on the horizon).
So bringing life is bringing suffering. To MY desendant..
For his/her sake... NO.

3. I really think I'm a genetic mess up - y make more? me and 2 of my cousins (all males..) had anxiety disorders and some OCD... all erupted in ages 25-30.
I also have glasses from a very young age, as does my sister and my mom.
I would have reached about size -13 without laser... :crazyeye:

I'm not even sure which of these 3 is more dominant, but they are blended into a definite "NO!". :mischief:

P.S. Also I kinda agree with "Volentary human extinction movement" (VHEMT, http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/group.php?gid=2393506168)

Well I would assume that a couple adopting would plan to stay together. Im just trying to get at the issue of marriage.

Yeah, no doubt it would vary.

Not sure, certainly not in the next five years. I may not want them at all if all they have to live for a dying wasteland of a planet populated by people who are increasingly not even trying to hide their barbarism.

Then leave the West Coast...

Seriously, this is a pretty damn nice world. I just spent a week in an old barracks teaching teenagers to be soldiers, and I'm staying around for that sort of thing. If you think there's nothing worth living for, go out and work with kids.

My girl friend was pregnant, but she was scared, she told me she didn't want the baby. I have to accompany her to the hospital to abort.
But several days later, I was so regret for the aborting. I'v always felt vile and guilty till today. I don't know if I am deserved another chance to have a child.

I'm not planning to have my own but I'm always open to bringing joy to some stranger's kid(s), my brother's, cousins' or friends' like I always have. There isn't a period in human history that we can not do something because of lack of man power. There is always a period in human history that we can not do something because there are so many people. Well, you need lots of slaves to build pyramids without huge cost but you get my point.

I wouldn't feel that way. If you're not ready you're not ready and it sounds like you two were not.
That limit passed for me about 5 years ago. I now am content in life with my nephews and nieces. Yeah, MAYBE if I met a woman tomorrow, fell in love and got married within a few months, I might still consider it if it was important, but I'm 40 and time has its teeth in me. I have no desire to be a 65 year old geezer seeing his child graduate high school.
You and I are similar. I was married at 28 and divorced by 38 and not having children was a huge deal for me but her career took priority. Since then I've been with women that were very ready for kids and at that point I was not and really not sure I wanted to be an old man with kids.

Over the last year I've been with a woman who has a 8 year old boy and 6 year old girl. They're a blast and I'm having a lot of fun with them. It probably helps that the boy is total boy and the girl is a very girly girl. Unforunately, I think they get more from me than their father. Tonight at their block party a friend told me that they called me dad in front of them. That's pretty sad for me since I don't want to replace their father.

Anyhow, today was a big day for the boy since we've been working on his hitting (baseball) and he hit a home run in the last inning to tie the game. Later he and I won the egg toss so he was mighty fired up.

I'm having fun with them and their mom is the best. They're going to become great adults.
