Dr.NES - The DOOM Project: The Sapphire of the Sea

Alexandrov:

@Ilya, and the rest:
"Also, keep that camera safe. It seems that they want to get rid of all the evidence on what has happened on the ship. Erasing the security files was first thing, now this dude killed our last living eyewitness who might have actually talked. He did eye on the camera before attacking, so I recon he made a desicion to eliminate either the camera or the eyewitness."

"It also makes sence that they started attacking us once we turned the lights on. They knew that the eyewitnesses had locked themselves up in the engineering and turned the lights off. When we turned them back on, they realised we were in control of engineering and that gave them a reason to assume we might have taken a living eyewitness as prisoner. And had the prisoner talked, he could have blown their cover. It was a pre-emptive attack on their part, when they realised we were close to finding out what's going on."

@mod:
Can we attempt to barrigade the engineering door? Do we have enough tools for it?

@George-the-passenger:
How are you feeling buddy? Any weird urges? Has anyone done anything to you before we arrived?

@Doc:
I suggest we might want to restrain or detain this bridge officer down here with us.

Will respond more at the appropriate time.

@Mod: Can we have an updated Locations list?

Ask, and ye shall receive! ;)

OOC: Could I get a response to my earlier statement Dread?

I was hoping to wait for a response from Sarge before doing so, but if he doesn't within a few hours then I will.

What was I supposed to respond to? I could not find a post with a statement or question to me going backto the recent update.

Arnold:

Fact that Birch is not responding may mean that he is seriously injured. I recommend that Sarge send somebody down immediately to retrieve Birch.

Recommend NO-ONE goes anywhere alone. Teams of two at all times are ideal.

Considering that there are only two of us left on the bridge, myself and jarkko, a team of two would leave the bridge unattended.

I will go down and explore myself keeping in touch with jarkko. When I find birch we might need medical assistance. So a doctor will need to come up.

If necessary, i'll come up. (If you all think that's wise.)

Sure, come on up. Also, BRING SOME O' DAT AK AMMO!

Jarkko (to Sarge): You find out the situation with Birch and I'll try and fashion a pulley system with my cord so we can get you down, and both of you back up safely. (To Nils): If you are about to leave the infirmary, try and get a blood sample from one of the passengers (preferably after they're dead).

@mod: If necessary, I'll go up to help birch (Hopefully with a companion, as I'm very lightly armed.)

Update VI – Ultimatum

June 24, 2012. 2010 hours.
24 Hours into the mission

"A SUDDEN BOLD AND unexpected question doth many times surprise a man and lay him open."

Jarkko raised Sarge to his feet after the two hostiles had been deposed. "Are you injured?" Jarkko asked, as he patted Sarge on the back.

"A few punches, but no lacerations or broken bones," Sarge replied, as he felt his body for any signs of serious injury. He was checking the left side of his ribcage before he asked in shock, "Wait, where's Birch?"

Jarkko twisted quickly towards the broken window. "You don't think...?" he began to ask, as he approached the broken frame. He peered downwards to inspect the potential fall zone; luckily, the deck below covered most avenues of fall.

Sarge snapped into action. As soon as he realized a fellow soldier was in potential harm, he entered a new state of mind: that of immediate rescue for his teammate. No man gets left behind.

"Birch, do you read me, over?" he spoke into the radio. "Birch? Can you hear me? Over?"

No response.

"I'm going down after him," Sarge decided.

Jarkko hesitated. "We need to tell the team about the situation. You can't go down there alone, not in a hostile zone such as this. We can't leave the Bridge undefended. We're stuck between a rock and a hard place."

Sarge shook his head. "We need to make sure he's not critically injured."

As he spoke, however, Doc McCoy radioed him urgently. "Sarge, you should here this, over..." he began.

24 Hours into the mission

Doc McCoy motioned towards Jim after news of the attack was transmitted. "We need to secure the patients we already have in our custody."

Jim nodded. "They haven't shown any aggression yet, so hopefully they aren't in a position to attack. Just keep me covered, eh?"

Doc McCoy agreed, and raised his weapon as Jim approached the captured passenger.

"Alright, well, I'm going to have to ask for your cooperation. I'm gonna tie you up for a bit. Now, if you try to move, I'll blow your head off, so let's not do that, okay buddy?"

Doc McCoy called from behind Jim, "It's just a precaution. We will continue to keep you safe. We're on your side."

The man did not move. Instead, he raised his eyes to meet Jim's gaze, and uttered the following message:

"Your fellow soldier, Birch, is in our custody. He has sustained moderate physical injuries from his tumble, but his live signs are stable. If you wish for him to live, you must direct this ship towards the nearest inhabited zone from which we can secure passage to more civilized living zones. Failure to do so will result in his death, and the deaths of your entire company. Do you understand our demand?"

edit: Ninja'd by update. The following statement applies to pre-update conversation.

I can go on the mission to retrieve Birch. (Ohh, pick me, pick me! :D)

Arnold: ...This is no drug.
