Emperor SG?

As I found out...

My turn log:

Spoiler :

Pre-flight (650 AD):

We are obviously in an 'interesting' situation.

We won't be able to hold Kolhapur anyway, so I decide to move archer south, so he might be able to escape from the longbow, which will destroy the town next turn:

650ADstrategy1.jpg

I want to keep Delphi, as it provides us two sources of silks. I will gift Bombay to the Indians and move our troops towards Agade to support our other attacking units.

650ADstrategy2.jpg

Our sword army kills a longbow on its way north (1-0)

I give Bombay to the Indians...

A scouting galley spots a Sumerian one. I try to minimize their landing opportunities.

We bombard a pike and a sword near Agade until they are redlined and a sword and an MI kill both (3-0)

Some more bombardment of an Enkidu and our sword army finishes them off.

I will attack Agade, when I have two armies nearby.

I hire lots of scientists to get Engineering down to 3 turns...

IBT:

An attacking archer gets kill by our sword (which promotes to elite) (4-0)

We lose two sword to enemy attacks (4-2)

Uskudar: pike --> pike
We got game: pike --> pike
Bolu: library --> worker

The Sumerians complete Sun Tzu (Sure why not!?!?)

660AD (turn 1):

Our sword loses to a darn longbow. (4-3) :mad:

a spear finishes off that redline longbow (5-3)

An MI kills another redlined longbow (6-3)

An elite sword kills a sword (7-3)

An MI kills an Enkidu (8-3)

Our sword army kills a sword (9-3)

One of our galleys sinks a Sumerian galley (that landed a sword IBT) (10-3)

IBT:

We lose an MI to a longbow (10-4)

Istanbul: settler --> MI

The Romans complete Leo's

670AD (turn 2):

We bombard an enemy musket that roams our territory to 2/3 and an MI kills him, getting promoted to elite (11-4)

We spot a Sumerian knight :eek:

We sell Literature to India for 7g and a slave

Our army near Agade kills another dreaded longbow. (12-4)

IBT:

We lose two pikes to the Sumerians (12-6)

We finish Engineering

Sparta: Heroic Epic --> barracks
Edrine: MI --> MI
Bursa: MI --> MI

680AD (turn 3):

Boys and girls, we are in trouble. The Sumerians start swarming us with units. I hope that we can hold until we are able to raze Agade...

We found Urfa

We kill a longbow in the mountains (13-6)
An army kills an enemy sword (14-6)
We kill a knight and a longbow that previously killed one of our units (16-6)
We kill another two longbows (18-6)

I switch Sparta to the Forbidden Palace!

IBT:

We lose an MI and a pike to the Sumerians (18-8)

Neo Bananatown: library --> barracks
Konya: MI --> MI

Russia sends a knight into our territory (I sincerely hope they a not going to declare. Then we are doomed...)

690AD (turn 4):

We are now able to bombard Agade with 15 catapults and have two almost fully healed armies in reach:

6 of 15 catapults hit (they redlined two muskets and one is at 2/4)

The army from the south attacks Agade (vs. 2/4 musket) and wins, but gets redlined in the process. (19-8)

Our northern army attacks and kills a redlined musket and an MI (21-8)

An MI kills the other redlined musket (22-8)
Another MI kills a longbow and we capture the city of Agade (23-8) plus one slave. For now I keep the city just to slow down the incoming Sumerian troops.

IBT:

A knight kills the MI in Agade and recaptures the city (23-9)

Istanbul: MI --> MI
Edrine riots (not sure why)

700AD (turn 5):

This time only 3 of our cats hit, redlining a musket that appeared in the city.

Our army kills the knight (24-9)
An MI captures the city again (25-9)

An MI kills a Sumerian MI (26-9)

An MI loses to a Sumerian pike that protects two longbows threatening one of our towns (26-9)

An elite sword kills one of these longbows and we gain an MGL!!! :woohoo: (27-9)

An MI kills the other longbow and a sword kills the pike (29-9)

I long thought about the options for our MGL. But I think an MI army is currently more valuable to us than the Pentagon. The next MGL should be used for this.

I rush an MI in Athens, as we have good use for him in our newly created army.

Due to our weakened armies by Agade I am forced to sacrifice five catapults, as I otherwise would risk to lose the whole army :sad:

IBT:

A defending sword kills an MI (30-9)
A knight captures our catapults as expected

Athens: MI --> MI

Sumeria completes the Sistine Chapel!!

710AD (turn 6):

a sword kills a longbow (31-9)

A sword and an MI kill a longbow each (32-9)

The new MI army kills a musket that threatened Sparta (33-9)

I leave Agade undefended, as the flip risk is too high at the size of 9, even with three armies in it. And to lose these would crush us.

IBT:

A Sumerian longbow loses to a sword in the mountains, who gets promoted to elite (34-9)

Russia is sending more units through our land. But I fear we can't do anything about it and just have to live with it, hoping they won't attack :please:

A Sumerian knight re-captures Agade as expected.

Our armies need to heal a bit in Athens.

Edrine: MI --> MI
Bursa: MI --> MI
Bolu: worker --> worker

720AD (turn 7):

An MI kills a Crusader (35-9)

Our MI army kills an Enkidu (36-9)

A sword army kills a sword and a longbow (38-9)

Now we are average towards Sumeria military wise

IBT:

Greek wants peace, but we reject it.

Istanbul: MI --> MI
Delphi: treb --> treb

Grrrrr Karachi deposed our governor and joined the Sumerian Nation :mad:

Uskudar: MI --> MI
New Aydin: MI --> MI

730AD (turn 8):

The only positive thing is that in this part of the world (Karachi) Sumeria has no saltpetre, so there is just an Enkidu in the town. And coincidentically we have 4 cats and an elite sword next to the city :D

Well, although the bombardment failed completely, our sword kills the Enkidu and recaptures Karachi... (39-9)

Our armies kill a sworn and an MI on their way to Agade (41-9)

Now we have 11 cats and three armies at the gates of Agade, to be attacked next turn...

IBT:

Kafa: galley --> galley
Urfa: treb --> treb

740AD (turn 9):

Sumeria is now in Republic (Well, they should suffer some serious WW now)

We bombard Agade (Where I can't find any muskets, btw)

6 catapults hit, redlining both defending knights :thumbsup:

Our MI army kills both knights. I raze the city and gain three slaves. The Sumerians have upgraded three of our cats for us to trebs :) (43-9)

An elite sword kills a Sumerian longbow and: (44-9)

740ADMGL2.jpg

As we can't create a further army anyway I use the MGL to rush The Pentagon in Uskudar.

IBT:

Edrine: MI --> marketplace (some economy would not be bad)
Uskudar: The Pentagon --> MI

750ADPentagon.jpg

Konya: MI --> MI

750AD (turn 10):

I load swords into the sword armies

An MI joins the MI army

Due to a lack of swords, I load an MI into one of the sword armies

Now we are strong towards Sumeria :)

Our armies and arties are moving towards Der. This is the next target...

We should bring down Sumeria on this continent, before we move to our next target. We are now strong enough to do so and can get lots of beneficial wonders from them. We just need to starve their cities to size one to minimize the flip risk.

Of course, if we get the possibility to get techs from Sumeria, I'd make peace for them. Cuurently they would not give us Invention for peace...

It might take some time to complete this task, but we will succeed.

We just can hope that Russia is just travelling our territory to reach one of the other nations. Some embassies might be a good idea to improve our information about other nations.

I'm following but Civ V is surely getting a lot of attention right now.

I'm still interested. Havent seen anything from Madv in awhile, though. Looks like you did well against some rough odds.

Sparthage is here.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be available for a week or so (Civ5, Bowsling SG, Anarchy Game, My Story, Real Life). Hopefully after I finish with some of these things I'll have time. I could use a overview of the situation from you people as to our plans and such, and I'll try to squeeze some time in. Maybe 5 turns if possible.

Okay, :bump:
I could possibly play this weekend if this is still alive. Also, kind of an odd question, but what do the (44-7) and stuff like that mean for combat?

Lurker:

44 win and 7 losses, just like baseball standings. A few like Cbob use 44 for 51 type notation.

lurker's comment: Unit victories, I think. What do you mean by HP victories -- number of HP damage dealt or something?
Yep. So if 5 units knocked off say 23 HP and lost 14 it would be (23-14)?
