Here we are, in alphabetical order...

Very well, I contradict myself.
I am large, I contain multitudes."
-
"Consistency is the hobgoblin of a small mind."

Remember to creatively abuse techs in lieu of being able to invent your own techs like Cleric tried. ;)

Also, a friendly reminder:
Deadline for orders is Monday. Update will come during the week as I will write a short highlight from each faction in order to give a better sense of the setting.

will send orders tomorrow :D

What are the costs of research Erik?

Here you go Sheep!
What are the costs of research Erik?
(OOC: Most starting techs cost 8-12 Production to research and develop, with one exception, medicinal biotech, which is cheaper. Exact research cost is hidden. If you invest over cost, extra points will be banked.)

Thanks for the tech tree Erik, there were some really interesting details in there . Hmm, need to think on this. Also:
Once I get less lazy, I'll put up a tech tree with descriptions of advanced tech and full effects of basic tech. Look for it sometime during the week.
Any chance we'll see those descriptions of the advanced tech as well? Or is each of us only entitled to that once the prerequisites for a certain tech is researched, so we should take this via PM?

Oh, and please check your PM box. :p

Yaaaaay! Thanks for not dulling up the tech tree!

From University Network
To ICARD

Please remember about our trade deal and map exchange. We have also laid claim to Graffias system, but we will leave Alnilam to your control as you requested.

TO: Known Interstellar Community
FROM: Commonwealth of Interstellar Domains
SUBJECT: Gate Network Data Available

Greetings. As virtually all of you with whom we have been in communication no doubt know, we have been compiling map data with whomever possible, in return for our own astronavigational data. As a consequence of this, we have managed to put together a detailed and accurate map of almost the entire "western" half of the former Imperial Republican domain. We are willing to disseminate this knowledge at a small price; 2 Production Points from any given party and they will receive the full breadth of our current understanding. All parties are, of course, welcome to partake of this offer.

TO: Known Interstellar Community
FROM: Commonwealth of Interstellar Domains
SUBJECT: Trade Negotiations Open

We are currently willing to begin trade negotiations with any and all interested parties.

To the Commonwealth of Interstellar Domains
From the T'au Empire

Given previous treaty committments we will not pay 2 ep production. We thus however ask for you to give us the map.

Our treaty was for an equivilent exchange of maps.

Communications Logs said:
[02:21:14] Sheepmaddrell: I would like to discuss an exchange of maps, some trade and a division of our bordering systems to ensure that we do not come into conflict
[...]
[02:23:23] Alec Walton: We can agree to exchange maps (forward the ones Erik sent) and we feel that the matter of borders is a simple one; do not transit any warships past Izar and we will do the same for Dschubba.
[...]
[02:33:40] Alec Walton: So, forward your map and you'll get ours.
[02:33:51] Sheepmaddrell: soon
[02:34:04] Sheepmaddrell: We would dearly love a united map
[02:34:05] Sheepmaddrell: haha
[02:34:11] Sheepmaddrell: make it easier for me to visualise
[02:42:41] Alec Walton: At this time we are still compiling data. Perhaps, when that's concluded, something can be arranged.
[02:42:59] Sheepmaddrell: of course
[02:43:18] Sheepmaddrell: we will committ to a transfer second whilst this is the case however
[02:43:48] Alec Walton: Meaning?
[02:44:46] Sheepmaddrell: Perhaps you could pm first
[02:46:05] Alec Walton: Done.
[02:48:02] Sheepmaddrell: done
That transaction was completed. At no time did we state we would remit full CID data in return for the T'au Empire's local maps, merely that we would exchange equivilent data. That was done, and no complaints were raised. We stated that when we had finished compiling the data, there was further possibility for negotiations at that time. Conditions for such have been presented presently.

Any misunderstanding on the part of the T'au Empire as to what was arranged was precisely that: a misunderstanding.

Oh, come on, Symphony. To swindle us all now will only provoke us to seek revenge later for your impertinence.

OOC: WTH? Now I'm irritated. You all got my map. You, Silver Steak, even got a pretty map with background stars, though you can have the "official" one too if you want. That is an equivilent exchange. Why the hell should I only get your data, yet have to give my data and that of everyone else I know?

What damn fool gives away 4 - 5x as much data as they get? See also Kal'thzar's post! Knowledge is power. If the offer is so repulsive to you, nobody is forcing you to buy it. You can do all the footwork yourself and trade with everybody else, or you can save yourself the effort and pay a measly sum. It's that simple: 2PP, or negotiate with 5 people in wildly different timezones. Hey, it's no different than buying a hamburger at McDonalds because you're too lazy to make one yourself; service fee.

In Civilization terms, we all traded Nation Maps square and even. I now have a World Map, and I'm asking money for it, and you're acting like I swindled you? Give me a break! This isn't daycare share time in space. Should I be giving away every technology I research the next turn out of the goodness of my heart too? Please! Don't insult my intelligence or business sense. None of you would agree to that kind of offer, so don't even pretend like I would.

To CID
From T'au Empire

Aun'Va has decreed you to be the great deceiver and we ask once again for the full map as per the previous treaty.

The T'au Empire may appeal its case to the Universal Court if it so desires, however the wording of the Commonwealth was unambiguous, and it has presented clear evidence that at no point did it mislead, coerce, or otherwise contractually bind the T'au Empire into an agreement which it did not know the full terms of. These documents are publically available to all interested parties. If the T'au Empire is too prideful to admit its mistake when the evidence is laid before it, that is its concern, not ours, and we will not be blackmailed into concessions.

Unless the T'au Representative has a productive response, we have stated our position on the matter, and have no further comment.

@Symphony: I misunderstood your post. I interpreted it as if you were not willing to release the full map unless all parties involved paid you 2 PPs first. My bad, really. I wasn't trying to offend you or anything...

If it's possible for 2 PP worth of products to reach CID space from VV, then Viginti Venti's government will purchase the compiled mapping research for that price.

Yes, it's possible.
Or is each of us only entitled to that once the prerequisites for a certain tech is researched, so we should take this via PM?

Oh, and please check your PM box. :p
Next update there'll be one with all the techs available to people then. Those who have researched so far have been told what further techs there are.

I don't see anything from you after "Re: El Mappo", and I've answered everything in that that you're going to get an answer on.

The one sent on Dec 5th? There was only one question in it, and you didn't answer it, so I guess that means I'll get no answer then. Oh well. :)

The Dragon Empire supports the virtuous and honest CID while we denounce the swindling and thieving T'au. The Dragon Empire would also be happy to open trade relations with CID.
